Labor education is an educational activity,which purports at promoting students to form labor values,establish correct labor perspectives,cultivate positive labor attitude,develop good labor attainment,possess certain labor knowledge and skills,and have the ability to carry out creative labor.In recent years,the discussion focused on labor education has attracted more researchers’ attention.Kindergarten teachers are actively responding to the national policy and carrying out labor education.However,Some deficiencies still can be found in practice,such as insufficient understanding of labor education and inadequate implementation of labor training.Based on the practice of kindergarten education,This study aimed to analyze the current situation of labor education via studying kindergarten duty activities.Meanwhile,optimization strategies of kindergarten duty activities were proposed based on the above discussion of labor education.This study tries to implement the concept of labor education into kindergarten duty activities,and provide reference for labor education in kindergarten.Diverse research methods,including literature method,the observation method,and the interview method,were used in this study.Firstly,related concepts of labor education were reorganized via literature management and objectives and contents of labor education were clarified.Secondly,current situation of labor education and duty activities in kindergartens were recorded through observation and interview,then Nvivo 11 software was used to code and analyze the observation records of duty activities.Based on these analysis,overall situation of the implementation of kindergarten duty activities,the forms and specific contents of activities could be presented.Finally,the potential problems were discussed and constructive suggestions for kindergarten duty activities were put forward under the concept of labor education.In this study,six middle and senior classes were selected as research samples.Through the observation of three months of kindergarten duty activities and interviews with teachers and children,researcher deepened the understanding of the implementation of kindergarten duty activities.The study found that the following problems existed in kindergarten duty activities: a)lack of spiritual and cultural environment;b)teachers’ choices dominated labor content and children’s autonomy was limited;c)monotonous and stereotypical labor content failed to reflect children’s age characteristics;d)labor skills was neglected by teachers and children could not fully master labor skills;e)most evaluation from teachers were negative and invalid while self-evaluation from children themselves was little;f)teachers in duty were lack of patience,sometimes they deprived children’s right to labor.g)coexisted negative and positive work attitude of Children;h)teachers’ work perceptions were not comprehensive;i)cognitive biases toward labor in young children.The dominant reasons for these problems may include: Teachers were devoid of necessary knowledge and ability reserve to guide children’s labor;with deep-rooted traditional views,teachers do too many things for children,which limited cultivation of children ’ s autonomy;result-oriented evaluation system ignored children’s labor experiences.Focused on above problems and causes,further optimization strategies were proposed,including: a)improve the quality of teachers and carry out labor education scientifically;b)formulate targeted labor education goals,promote labor education as a whole;c)teachers should give full play to the value of environmental education and create a good working atmosphere;d)teachers should pay attention to the teaching of knowledge and skills,and make sure children are prepared well for knowledge and skills;e)teachers should guide children to understand work correctly and enhance the sense of glory of work;believe in children’s independent ability,the form of teacher-child negotiation activities;f)according to the characteristics of children’s age,enrich the content of on-duty labor;g)ensure children’s skills to grasp,lay the foundation of labor ability;h)give children labor autonomy topromote labor initiative;i)follow the principle of pleasure,optimize children’s work experience;j)enrich the evaluation system,establish and improve the evaluation mechanism;k)adopt positive and effective evaluation methods and play the meaningful role of evaluation;l)change the outdated evaluation concept that attach too much importance to results and focus on children’s labor process.
