In recent years,scholars have conducted extensive research on online Chinese language teaching,with a particular focus on the teaching of Chinese to children.During an internship at the Wukong Chinese platform,it was observed that there is a significant proportion of overseas Chinese children among Chinese language learners.In the past two years,there has been an increasing amount of research in China on online Chinese language instruction for overseas Chinese children.However,there is still a lack of research specifically focusing on the design of one-on-one online instruction for overseas Chinese children.Therefore,based on the Wukong Chinese platform and drawing on practical experience in teaching Chinese to overseas Chinese children,this study aims to investigate the design of one-on-one online Chinese language instruction for this target group.The purpose is to develop more effective instructional approaches by considering the language learning characteristics of overseas Chinese children and to enhance their overall Chinese language proficiency through improved instructional content design and the application of teaching strategies.The paper consists of five sections: introduction,literature review,analysis of one-on-one online Chinese language instruction design for overseas Chinese children based on the Wukong Chinese platform,instructional design explanation and implementation for the textbook “Rainbow”,teaching feedback and summary,and conclusion.Three overseas Chinese children with different nationalities are selected as participants for the study,and a specific lesson from the textbook “Rainbow” is used as an example for the one-on-one online Chinese language instruction design.By analyzing the instructional design problems encountered by the learners,teaching strategies are summarized and their effectiveness is evaluated.Data collection and analysis are conducted through classroom observations and individual interviews.By gathering feedback from personal interviews,homework assessments,and video recordings,certain patterns and experiences in online Chinese language instruction for overseas Chinese children are identified.For example,personalized instruction is beneficial for the Chinese language learning of overseas Chinese children,so teachers should design personalized learning plans and activities based on students’ characteristics and needs.Although this study has practical value,limitations such as a small sample size,a limited range of teaching evaluation methods,insufficient analysis of instructional content,and challenges in practical application and generalization exist.It is hoped that this research will not only provide assistance to Chinese language teachers on the Wukong Chinese platform but also offer valuable insights for online Chinese language instruction for foreign language teachers in general. |
