In 2021,the Ministry of Education issued the "Guide to Teaching Materials for Introducing Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture into Primary and Secondary Schools".The guide emphasizes the need to infiltrate excellent traditional Chinese culture into teaching materials,which is an important measure to ensure that the education of excellent traditional Chinese culture can smoothly achieve systematization,institutionalization,and sustainability.With the increasing strength of China and the rapid advancement of its external development,the country has increasingly attached importance to the development of excellent traditional Chinese culture and education.Integrating excellent traditional Chinese culture into primary school English teaching can not only promote students’ learning and internalization of basic English knowledge,but also help to inherit and continue excellent traditional Chinese culture,which is crucial to improving students’ national pride and cultural self-confidence.Based on the "English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)" and the background of the era of cultural self-confidence,this study first elaborates on the research background,research significance and methods,literature review,definition of relevant concepts,and the theoretical basis for integrating excellent traditional Chinese culture into primary school English teaching.Secondly,through a questionnaire survey,we understand the current teaching situation of teachers and students,further explore the teaching objectives,principles,content,methods,teaching process,and teaching evaluation of integrating excellent traditional Chinese culture into primary school English,and finally conduct a demonstration of teaching case design and implementation,with a view to providing teaching ideas for front-line educators to integrate excellent traditional Chinese culture into primary school English teaching.Through the above research path,the following research results were obtained in this study:First,students are not optimistic about the thinking quality of integrating excellent traditional Chinese culture into primary school English,and their language skills need to be improved,but the results in terms of learning ability and cultural awareness are good.Teachers have a good cognitive situation and will attempt to integrate excellent traditional Chinese culture into all aspects of teaching,using various methods for teaching,and being able to summarize and reflect after class.Secondly,under the guidance of the "English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)",teaching suggestions are proposed for integrating excellent traditional Chinese culture into primary school English teaching.Improve students’ thinking quality,learning ability,language ability,and cultural awareness in terms of teaching objectives;Follow the principles of appropriateness,development,and systematicness in teaching;In terms of teaching content,it combs and analyzes the excellent traditional Chinese culture in the textbooks;In terms of teaching methods,it is recommended to combine multiple methods;In classroom teaching,it is necessary to integrate excellent traditional Chinese culture into the introduction,new teaching,summary,and homework links,while practical activities require guidance for students’ learning before,during,and after the activities;In teaching evaluation,the form of combining student academic achievement evaluation with teacher teaching work evaluation is adopted.Third,take the "traditional diet" and "traditional festivals" of Grade 5 and Grade 6 as examples for teaching implementation,and evaluate the teaching effect after implementation.The evaluation results show that students’ thinking quality,learning ability,language ability,and cultural awareness have improved to some extent,and teachers have also summarized teaching through self reflection.
