| The inheritance and promotion of excellent Chinese traditional culture plays an important role in the realization of a strong educational state in China.The report of the 20 th Party Congress points out that to carry out education on the excellent Chinese traditional culture in primary and secondary schools is of great significance to perpetuate the roots and soul of the Chinese nation,to uphold the common ideals and beliefs of the Chinese nation,and to cultivate young people to be upright Chinese people.It can be seen that the study of excellent Chinese traditional culture has a new contemporary value,so the value-oriented study of excellent Chinese traditional culture in high school English textbooks was carried out.Based on the literature review and related studies,this paper aims to answer two questions: First,what contents of Chinese excellent traditional culture have been selected for the 2019 PEP English textbooks? Secondly,what was the value orientation of the 2019 PEP English textbook on Chinese excellent traditional culture?Based on the theory of cultural anthropology and the theory of cultural value orientation,this paper,by using the text analysis method and the literature method,has counted the contents of Chinese excellent traditional culture and extracted the value orientation of Chinese excellent traditional culture,which are as follows:First,the content from the perspective of the New High School Curriculum: 1.The content of material and spiritual culture of Chinese excellent traditional culture is rich in spiritual culture,literature,art,history and values account for a larger proportion in spiritual culture,and architectural places of interest account for the largest proportion in material culture.2.The content of Chinese excellent traditional culture in the compulsory part of high school English is more than the optional compulsory part.3.Chinese excellent traditional culture is in a larger proportion in the native language culture.Second,the content from the perspective of the Guide: six major carrier forms of Chinese excellent traditional culture are covered in textbooks.Scientific and technological achievements have the smallest proportion in these seven books,about2.6%,classical titles account for about 18.5%,humanistic allusions account for about18.5%,basic general knowledge accounts for about 13%,arts and special skills account for about 26.4%,and other cultural heritage accounts for about 21%.The third is the value orientation of the excellent Chinese traditional culture: first,the value orientation of knowing oneself: the middle way;second,the value orientation of transcending oneself: daring to be the first;third,the value orientation of man’s theoretical understanding of nature: love of nature;fourth,the value orientation of the practical relationship between man and nature: the idea of harmony;fifth,the value orientation of man’s political pursuit: benevolence and goodness;sixth,the value orientation of man’s moral concept: benevolence and righteousness and integrity.And the problems of textbook Chinese excellent traditional culture were found: first,the proportion of material culture is half of spiritual culture,and there is a lack of material culture in selective Compulsory 1;second,the proportion of scientific and technological achievements is low,and the six carrier forms take up too large a proportion in Compulsory 2,Compulsory 3 and selective Compulsory 3;third,the value orientation is not strong,and Western culture infiltrates and other problems,which also verifies what the Guide says.We propose a reasonable layout of Chinese excellent traditional culture,increase the proportion of material culture,appropriately increase the proportion of scientific and technological achievements,reasonably plan the distribution of carrier forms in each book,and put forward teaching suggestions.It is hoped that it can provide reference for the teaching of excellent Chinese traditional culture in high school English and the preparation of textbooks. |
