Research On The Design Of Children’s Outdoor Activity Space Based On Landscape Narration

The physical and mental growth of children is closely linked to the nation’s future development.Outdoor activities are a major factor in the growth of children,aiding in the formation of their intelligence,language,behavior and personality.As urbanization continues to grow,the urban population also increases.the green space area is gradually decreasing,and the urban environment is deteriorating,resulting in the difficulty of meeting the demand for outdoor space for children.Providing a safe and comfortable play environment for children and promoting their healthy physical and mental development is a basic requirement for children’s outdoor activity space.However,at present,the overall level of children’s outdoor activity space in China is still not ideal.There are plenty of problems of mechanization,patterning and stylization,and the act ual needs of children are ignored.Therefore,how to create an activity venue that brings children rich experience,fun and meets children’s needs is the focus of this thesis.Firstly,through theoretical research,the concepts of landscape narrative and children’s outdoor activity space are explained and defined.Combined with theories such as child psychology,child behavior and environmental psychology,the physiological and cognitive characteristics of children of different ages were analyzed,and the specific needs of children for outdoor activities were summarized.Secondly,this paper analyzes the cases of children’s outdoor activity space at home and abroad from the practical aspects,summarizes the latest design concepts and design techniques of children’s outdoor activity space,and analyzes the problems existing in the current children’s activity space through questionnaires.Then,the landscape narrative theory is introduced,and the design strategy of children’s outdoor activity space based on landscape narrative theory is analyzed from three aspects: design principle,design content and design method.Finally,taking Linqu “Fish Leaping Children’s Dream” Park as an example,the above design strategies are applied to design practice to create an activity venue suitable for children’s physical and mental health development,in line with children’s preferences,and making children play.
