Settlement is the product of human environmental transformation in specific areas to adapt to nature. The residential settlements in Mongolia with less human planning intervention have the characteristics of self-organizing growth. The spatial morphology of settlements is an external manifestation under the influence of multiple factors such as environmental constraint, social consciousness, national memory and regional culture. In recent years, many scholars have carried out in-depth research on the residential settlements in Mobei Mongolia from anthropology, archaeology and other aspects. However, the research on the residential settlements in this area from the perspective of architecture is slightly insufficient, and the research on its spatial morphology and its deep organizational logic is rare.Based on the above research status, this paper selects 39 typical residential settlements in Mobei Mongolia as the research object, collects and collates relevant data by field investigation, and uses qualitative and quantitative methods to systematically analyze and summarize the spatial morphological characteristics of residential settlements in this area. The full text is divided into three parts. The first part expounds the research background, research purpose and significance, research status, etc.Meanwhile,we focuses on the division of residential settlements based on geographical features. The second part, first of all, collates the background of the causes of settlements from nomadism to settlement.Secondly, the data obtained from the field investigation is logically sorted out,and the residential settlement samples are recorded and summarized in detail by related charts obtained from the spatial morphological analysis,so as to provide basic information for the follow-up research.Taking the three core elements of ’ boundary morphology ’,’ spatial structure ’ and ’ place space ’ in the spatial morphology of Mobei Mongolia as the research entry point, the third part studies its spatial morphological characteristics and deep connotation.Firstly, the boundary morphology is accurately classified by using boundary quantitative data, and the factors affecting the boundary morphology of settlements are explored in combination with regional environment and national culture.Secondly, the qualitative classification of spatial structure based on morphology is studied, and the potential significance of the spatial origin of Mobei Mongolian settlements is analyzed. The above research indicates that the residential settlements in Mobei Mongolia show the spatial morphological characteristics of ’originality ’,’ reunion ’,’ concentration ’ and ’order ’ under the comprehensive action of historical, humanistic, natural, economic and social background. It explains the complex mechanism of regional factors and many influencing factors in the region, and explores the internal order and logic between the spatial morphology of residential settlements and regional attribute and ethnic culture. This paper extends the study of settlements in Mongolia from Monan to Mobei, which is a useful supplement to the study of settlements in the geographical scope of the Mongolian plateau. At the same time,it has certain reference significance for studying the production and living organization of Mongolian people from nomadism to settlement.
