As a unique historical and cultural heritage of Mongolia,Tibetan Buddhist architecture has diversified development in architectural morphology and plane shape due to its construction age, economic development and regional cultural factors. In recent years,Tibetan Buddhist architecture in Mongolia has attracted the attention of many scholars.Compared with Monan Mongolia and Gansu and Qinghai regions, there are few studies on Tibetan Buddhist architecture in Mobei Mongolia. At present, only a small amount of literature has studied some well-preserved typical temple buildings in Mobei Mongolia. There is a lack of in-depth investigation of the integrity of Tibetan Buddhist architecture in Mobei Mongolia, and there is no induction and in-depth study of its diversified architectural plane shape types.Based on the above research status,on the basis of a large number of literature and historical data research, extensive field investigation and architectural surveying and mapping, this paper selects 43 well-preserved Tibetan Buddhist buildings in Mobei Mongolia as the research object, focuses on the study of their plane shape, uses architectural typology to classify them scientifically and systematically, and compares them with the plane shape characteristics of Tibetan Buddhist buildings in other regions to explore the reasons for the differentiation of the plane shape of Tibetan Buddhist buildings in Mobei Mongolia. This paper is divided into three parts.Firstly, the background, research objects and methods of the article are elaborated, and the development background of the plane shape of the Tibetan Buddhist architecture in Mobei Mongolia is discussed.Secondly, based on the research of relevant historical documents, the field investigation, surveying and mapping and photographing records of four types of architectural cases with relatively complete and typical plane types in Mobei Mongolia are carried out, focusing on the investigation and drawing of the plane shape of single buildings, providing basic data for subsequent research. Finally,on the basis of the previous investigation results,by using the architectural typology method, the prototype of the plane shape of 43 sample cases is extracted, the derivative variants are classified, and the typical characteristics of the plane shape are refined.Through the horizontal comparison with the typical characteristics of the plane shape of Tibetan Buddhist buildings in Monan Mongolia and Gansu and Qinghai regions, the main influencing factors of the differentiated characteristics of the plane shape of Tibetan Buddhist buildings in Mobei Mongolia are explored. The above research shows that in the process of close communication with Monan Mongolia and Gansu and Qinghai regions, the typical plane shape characteristics of Tibetan Buddhist buildings are implanted in Mobei Mongolia from its adjacent regions.Under the influence of multiple factors such as cultural background, economic level and construction concept, the plane shape characteristics of such buildings have undergone a regional transformation. The concrete manifestation is that on the basis of inheriting the traditional mandala prototype, the plane shape types are more diversified, and the plane layout is more flexible due to the actual conditions. With the development of the times, the plane shape gradually shows the trend of changing from traditional mode to secularization.Meanwhile,it is easily affected by the characteristics of architecture in the adjacent region. This paper has important academic significance for the sustainable development of Mongolian regional architecture and the study of regional architectural culture in a wider range.
