At present,China is in the superimposed stage of economic transformation and low-carbon emission reduction.How to get rid of the previous rough economic development model and realize green transformation of the economy has become the theme of the times.As an important national strategy carrying high-quality development goals,the China Pilot Free Trade Zone(CPFTZ)should explore a path of green and sustainable development that takes into account both economic growth and dual carbon target.Based on the panel data of 280 prefecture-level cities across the country from2006 to 2019,this paper used the overlapping double difference method to evaluate the impact of the establishment of free trade pilot zones on regional carbon emission efficiency.The research found that:(1)The construction of the CPFTZ has significantly improved the efficiency of regional carbon emission,and this effect has gradually strengthened with the passage of time,showing a dynamic and sustainable feature.(2)From the perspective of channel mechanism,the establishment of CPFTZ mainly promotes the improvement of regional carbon emission efficiency by improving industrial structure upgrading and technological innovation.(3)From the perspective of heterogeneity test,the improvement of urban carbon emission efficiency by the CPFTZ has significant differences in the two dimensions of resource endowment and infrastructure construction level.(4)From the perspective of the policy linkage effect,the establishment of the CPFTZ has a significantly positive linkage effect with the "Belt and Road" initiative in improving the efficiency of regional carbon emission.(5)From the perspective of the policy space effect,the environmental performance of the CPFTZ has a significant spatial siphon effect.That is to say,although the establishment of the CPFTZ is conducive to improving the efficiency of local carbon emission,it has a negative effect on the efficiency of carbon emission in neighboring areas.(6)From the perspective of quantile regression,the performance contribution of the establishment of the CPFTZ to improve urban carbon emission efficiency mainly comes from the urban of the condition distribution of carbon emission efficiency above the median".The conclusions of this paper further make up for the research on the low-carbon development performance of the policies of the CPFTZ,and provide an important reference for relevant departments to formulate policies of the CPFTZ. |
