In recent years, trade protectionism and unilateralism have prevailed in developed countries, and their attention to industry has been rising. The competition for the international industrial market has been increasing.China’s industrial imports and exports have been greatly affected. The establishment of the pilot free trade zone has brought new opportunities for China to get out of the predicament. The eastern region is the main force of industrial production in China, and the volume of foreign trade is large. The establishment of free trade pilot zones will inevitably have a profound impact on the industrial development of the eastern region. At present, the environmental pollution and energy consumption issues faced by the industrial production process in the eastern region are very prominent, and the green transformation and upgrading of industry are urgent. The role played by the establishment of the Eastern Pilot Free Trade Zone in promoting the green transformation of industry needs further research. Therefore, this article mainly explores the impact and mechanism of the establishment of the Eastern Pilot Free Trade Zone on industrial GTFP,which has profound significance for future institutional innovation and industrial green transformation of the pilot free trade zone. The specific research content of this article is as follows:Firstly, this article summarizes the relevant research on existing free trade pilot zones and finds that there is currently relatively little research on the impact of eastern free trade pilot zones on industrial green transformation; The characteristics of the Eastern Pilot Free Trade Zone were sorted out,and based on their characteristics, the theoretical impact mechanism of the Eastern Pilot Free Trade Zone on industrial green transformation was explored from four perspectives: green technology innovation,high-tech industry agglomeration, institutional innovation, and the spatial impact of the Pilot Free Trade Zone.Secondly, using 84 cities in Beijing,Tianjin,Hebei,Shandong,Jiangsu,Zhejiang,Fujian, and Guangdong provinces and cities from 2008 to 2020 as samples, empirical analysis was conducted to explore the impact of the Eastern Pilot Free Trade Zone on industrial GTFP.Firstly, this article used a multi-period double difference model to evaluate the policy effectiveness and found that the establishment of the Eastern Pilot Free Trade Zone had a promoting effect on the improvement of local industrial GTFP;Secondly, the heterogeneity of policy effects was tested by dividing samples. From different batches of free trade pilot zones,it can be seen that the impact of the free trade pilot zones established in 2013 and 2015 on industrial GTFP is significant, while the policy effects of the free trade pilot zones established in 2017,2019,and 2020 are not significant. The reason is that the policy effects of the free trade pilot zones have a time lag,and only gradually play a role when the infrastructure and industrial chain of the free trade pilot zones are relatively complete; From the perspective of coastal and non coastal pilot free trade zones, the establishment of pilot free trade zones has a promoting effect on the industrial GTFP of coastal and non coastal pilot free trade zone cities, but there is no significant difference between the two.Thirdly, the transmission path of the Eastern Pilot Free Trade Zone to industrial GTFP was verified, and the results showed that green technology innovation played a mediating role in the pilot free trade zone and industrial GTFP,while high-tech industry agglomeration and institutional innovation played a positive regulatory role.Fourthly, the spatial double difference model is used to explore the impact of the eastern free trade pilot zone on the surrounding cities’ GTFP.The results show that whether it is the anti distance matrix or the economic distance matrix, the establishment of the free trade pilot zone has spillover effects on the industrial GTFP of the surrounding cities, indicating that the establishment of the eastern free trade pilot zone has promoted the coordinated development of industrial green. Finally, based on existing research findings, provide corresponding policy recommendations.China should further expand the construction scope of free trade pilot zones, rely on the platform advantages of free trade pilot zones, improve green innovation capabilities, promote the development of high-tech industries, and continuously increase institutional innovation. The thesis consists of 8 figures,18 tables, and 110 references.
