| The improvement of urban green development efficiency has positive significance for promoting urban green development and building a green China.Through preferential policy system and quality business environment,free trade zones attract innovative resources and optimize green factor allocation by high level of opening up to international high standard economic and trade rules.However,in the face of increasingly serious urban problems such as resource scarcity and environmental pollution,whether the construction of free trade zones helps to enhance the efficiency of urban green development is crucial to green,sustainable and high-quality urban development.In view of this,this paper integrates the literature analysis method,SBM-GML index model,multi-period difference in differences method,intermediary effect analysis model,and spatial Durbin model to measure the green development efficiency of cities,analyze the policy impact and mechanism of action of the construction of FTZ on the green development efficiency of cities,and put forward policy recommendations to improve the green development efficiency of cities.The specific research work is as follows:(1)Based on the theory of free trade zone,green development efficiency theory,technological innovation theory,and the reality of free trade zone construction,the literature analysis method is used to construct a theoretical model of the impact of free trade zone construction on urban green development efficiency and put forward research hypotheses.(2)Environmental pollution and resource consumption factors are incorporated into the productivity analysis framework,an input-output index model is established,and the green development efficiency of cities from 2007-2019 is measured using the SBM-GML index model.The kernel density estimation method is used to demonstrate the evolution characteristics of green development efficiency in China’s cities;based on the overall and regional analysis perspective,the evolution trend of green development efficiency in cities nationwide and sub-regionally is demonstrated.(3)Construct a multi-period difference in differences model to empirically test the policy impact of FTZ construction on urban green development efficiency.To analyze the regional heterogeneity of the construction of FTZs on urban green development efficiency with respect to the positioning differences of free trade zones in different regions.A mediating effect analysis model is constructed to analyze the impact mechanism of FTZ construction on urban green development efficiency.(4)Construct a spatial Durbin model to analyze the spatial spillover effect of the construction of FTZs on the green development efficiency of neighboring cities from the perspective of the driving effect of the construction of FTZs on the green development efficiency of neighboring cities,and further explore the spatial heterogeneity of the construction of FTZs on the green development efficiency of neighboring cities.The study found that:(1)the construction of FTZ improved the green development efficiency of the cities in which they are located by 8.21%,and the heterogeneity analysis found that the construction of the eastern and central FTZ had the mechanism test revealed that technological innovation had a considerable moderating effect on the cities’ green development efficiency,with a more pronounced effect role of the construction of FTZ in improving the green development efficiency of the cities,in which the contribution of substantive green innovation was greater than that of strategic green innovation by 5.24%,reflecting the importance of Enhancing the excellence of invention to the green advancement of cities;(3)spatial effect analysis found that the construction of the FTZ has the efficiency of green development is impacted by a spatial spillover effect.neighboring cities and spatial heterogeneity analysis found that the construction of the eastern FTZ can significantly improve the green development efficiency of neighboring cities.This paper proposes a set of proposals to optimize the spatial arrangement of,based on the aforementioned discoveries.the FTZ,coordinate technological innovation and green development and improve the policy system of the FTZ. |
