Since the reform and opening up,China has achieved tremendous achievements in urbanization.However,the traditional crude development model has caused high consumption of resources and energy,environmental damage,and other problems.The issues cannot satisfy people’s aspirations for a better life and the need for high-quality economic and social development.Thus,there must be a shift to new urbanization that is people-oriented,resource-saving,green,and low-carbon.Meanwhile,under the background of ecological civilization construction,green development has become a key means to realize the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature.Therefore,promoting the construction of new urbanization with the concept of green development has become an essential part of China’s modernization process.Few studies have explored the coupling coordination relationship between new urbanization and green development as independent systems from a provincial perspective.Therefore,it is difficult to grasp the level of coordinated development and differences between the two in each region.Based on the above background,this paper selects panel data from 30 provinces and cities(excluding Tibet,Hong Kong,Macao,and Taiwan)in China from2005 to 2020 as the research object.Attempt to study the coupling coordination relationship between new urbanization and green development.The main works of the thesis:(1)Based on existing academic research and relevant policy documents,rationalize the connotation of new urbanization and green development,and construct an evaluation index system for both.(2)Using the entropy method to evaluate the new urbanization and green development level and fitting both data.(3)Introducing the coupling coordination degree model to calculate the coupling coordination degree of new urbanization and green development system.Applying the spatial autocorrelation model to analyze the spatial distribution characteristics of the coupling coordination degree.Adopting a gray prediction model to explore the future development trend of coupling coordination degree.(4)Finally,using geographically weighted regression models to dissect the degree of influence of key influencing factors on the coupling coordination degree of different provinces and cities.The main conclusions of the thesis:(1)During the study period,the levels of new urbanization and green development in each province and the city has increased significantly.The new urbanization and green development levels show the spatial distribution characteristics of "high in the east and low in the west" and "high in the south and low in the north" respectively.(2)During the study period,the interaction regulation of new urbanization and green development is inconsistent among provinces and cities.Most provinces and cities conform to the partial-N and partial-U development regulations,and a few follow the partial-S development regulations.(3)During the study period,the coupling coordination degree between new urbanization and green development in each province and city increased significantly.The type of coupling coordination gradually forms a Ⅲ-shaped tiered development pattern,with the eastern coastal area as the axis spreading to the central and western regions.The coupling coordination degree has significant spatial autocorrelation,with the high-high and low-low aggregation areas showing an increasing and decreasing trend.During the forecast period,the coupling coordination degree of provinces and cities shows a continuous upward trend,but significant inter-regional differences.(4)The same influence factors affect the coupling coordination degree with different intensities or directions in different provinces and cities.The different influence factors also affect the coupling coordination degree with different intensities or directions in the same province and city.(5)Based on the research results,proposed suggestions for improving the coupled and coordinated relationship between new urbanization and green development.Based on the provincial perspective,the paper evaluates the coupling coordination relationship between new urbanization and green development in 30 Chinese provinces and cities from the temporal and spatial dimensions.Hopefully,this paper provides some reference suggestions on improving new urbanization and green development level and their coupling and coordination degree for each province and city.
