Since the appearance of Five-yuan Hostel for Female Peasant Workers in Jilin City in the 1990s,it has become the first choice for local low-level female peasant workers to live in.Most of the female peasant workers are old,uneducated and unskilled,who can only make a living by doing odd jobs.The Five-yuan Hostels is their foothold,shelter and nursing home.This report is based on a long period of field interview and a large number of detailed interview materials.And it records the "heroism" of a group of low-level female workers in the face of life.The report is divided into three parts and seven chapters around the three main lines of "the struggle and desire of the tenants","the choice and insistence of the bosses" and "the current situation and predicament of the hostel".By describing women talking in the hostel,looking for jobs,insisting on hobbies and pursuing love after work,the report depicts a lot of interesting characters like Sun Shiqing,Xie Wentao,Liu Yujun,Xian Yuhui,Sun Honggui,Chang Yulan,Song Xiaoyun,Hei Mei and Wu Changrong.It shows the living state,spiritual pursuit and emotional appeal of the female peasant workers at the bottom.It also discusses the choice of the person in the hostels and the dilemma faced by the Five-yuan Hostels.Compared with the existing reports on the same topic,this one has the following innovations and highlights: the scope of the writing expands to four hostels in the same neighborhood,with a larger field of view and more diverse stories;the stories are rich in details,exploring the deeper feelings of the characters;the report focuses on the spiritual pursuit and emotional demands of the interviewees,making it more interesting and readable.
