In recent years,novel coronavirus pneumonia has been a heavy blow to traditional manufacturing enterprises,especially in the new economic situation.The technological change represented by big data and cloud computing is booming.Data driven transformation has become the key to the enterprises' dilemma.In practice,the successful data driven transformation of large manufacturing enterprises such as Haier and Midea points out the direction for the development of manufacturing enterprises.However,it is not feasible for traditional small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises with weak innovation foundation and limited resource capacity to fully follow the transformation path of such large-scale manufacturing enterprises.How to break through the resource capacity constraints of small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises to realize the transformation of data driven innovation has become an urgent issue.The academic circles have put forward dual innovation around the transformation of enterprise innovation,but there are many researches to test the mechanism of some factors on dual innovation.At present,there are still some deficiencies in the research on how to systematically explore the innovation performance of small and medium sized manufacturing enterprises through dual innovation.Based on this,this paper takes small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises as the research object,and from the perspective of data driven,it explores the mechanism of improving innovation performance of small and medium sized manufacturing enterprises in China.Based on the research idea of "theoretical foreshadowing qualitative research empirical test countermeasure suggestions and research conclusions",this study deeply explores the mechanism of data-driven innovation performance improvement of small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises in China.Firstly,based on the literature of datadriven and innovation transformation,this paper combs and summarizes the existing research results of data-driven transformation of small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises;secondly,based on the grounded theory,it refines the process mechanism of data-driven innovation performance improvement of small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises in China;then,according to the mechanism model obtained in the previous chapter,it carries out the empirical research based on structural equation model and hierarchical regression model Finally,according to the mechanism model of grounded theory and the results of empirical test,this paper puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions for the data-driven innovation transformation of small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises in China.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)Based on grounded theory and following the logic line of "behavior capability performance",this paper obtains the mechanism model of data-driven innovation performance improvement of small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises.The analysis finds that: firstly,small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises can improve their innovation performance through data-driven transformation,specifically from non R&D technology innovation,supply chain collaborative innovation,data-based process innovation,precision marketing innovation,and customer service innovation We should start from six aspects: customer participation in product innovation and agile organization innovation.Secondly,based on the dual innovation theory,according to the intensity and depth of enterprise change brought about by data-driven transformation,the transformation path of the above six aspects is further divided into the incremental innovation ability promotion process and the breakthrough innovation ability promotion process.Specifically,small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises can start from their own advantages,through non R&D technology innovation,supply chain collaborative innovation,databased process innovation and precision marketing innovation to enhance the ability of incremental innovation,and then improve innovation performance.Through user participation in product innovation and agile organization innovation,small and mediumsized manufacturing enterprises can break the existing mode and system,enhance breakthrough innovation ability,and then improve innovation performance.(2)Based on the results of qualitative research,this paper empirically tests the mechanism model of data-driven innovation performance improvement of small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises,and finds that: firstly,data-driven transformation helps to improve the innovation performance of small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises.Secondly,data driven transformation has a positive impact on innovation performance of small and medium sized manufacturing enterprises through incremental innovation capability and breakthrough innovation capability,and the relationship between incremental innovation capability and breakthrough innovation capability is complementary rather than substitution.Thirdly,resource embeddedness can promote the process of data empowerment to enhance dual innovation capability,and resource embeddedness can also indirectly improve innovation performance by enhancing dual innovation capability.On the basis of qualitative research and empirical test,this paper puts forward development countermeasures for small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises to break through the constraints of resources and capabilities,and provides policy suggestions for the government to promote the data-driven innovation transformation of manufacturing enterprises.The research conclusions have certain theoretical value and practical significance for manufacturing enterprises to promote the data-driven innovation transformation.
