Since entering the 21 st century,with the continuous development of world economy and international trade,the importance of supply chain management is being well recognized globally.Inventory management,as a key segment of supply chain,has also become one of the subjects that companies tend to pay more attention to study.This is especially obvious in the semiconductor industry.The mismatch between industrial application replacement and capital investment in this industry has resulted in the continuous cycle of recovery,expansion,peak and recession.In the cycle of market downturn,chip cost control becomes particularly important,and the control of spare parts inventory cost,which accounts for a relatively high ratio of production cost,has become the focus of cost control in various companies.Company D is a giant of semiconductor industry.However,it missed the great opportunity of entering mobile market and lost a lot during the rapid development wave of mobile communication.To catch up,Company D changed its product from logic chipset to memory chipset.Compared with the traditional processor products of Company D,the profit margin of memory is lower,and the price is greatly affected by the market and industry cycle,so Company D has to take more strict control on the production cost.During the downturn of the industry,without affecting the production outputs,company D need to take much more efforts to control the production cost,adjust the balance between the production efficiency and the inventory cost at the strategic level,and find a feasible and quantifiable inventory cost reduction scheme based on the influence of different parts on the machine capacity,so as to strive for a bigger inventory cost advantage for the enterprise in the fierce market competition.Based on a comprehensive and systematic review of the traditional and modern supply chain inventory management theories,this thesis analyzes and solves the problems of Company D's inventory management,including pay upon receipt,high inventory level,and non-categorized inventory management.This paper studies how to optimize the existing inventory management with more cost saving and establish a scientific and effective inventory management model to meet the needs of the company.Hopefully,this thesis can be helpful and useful in Company D's inventory management optimization.
