With the continuous development of the market,the market competition is becoming more and more fierce.Only by continuously optimizing the operation management,finding and solving the problems existing in the enterprise,can the enterprise have better competitiveness.Inventory management is not only related to the cost of the enterprise,but also affects the enterprise's capital operation,production operation,customer order acquisition and customer satisfaction.Therefore,only by maintaining a more reasonable inventory level and inventory structure can the enterprises ensure better operation and bring greater competitive advantage.Tongpu company is a manufacturing enterprise which mainly acts as an agent for drive units,controller and related automation products,and provides customized products and services for customers.Tongpu has been using the way of inventory replenishment to manage the inventory.As a result,the company's inventory cost is high,the number of dull materials is large,and the customer satisfaction is low,which has seriously affected the operation of Tongpu company.Therefore,Tongpu company urgently needs to optimize the inventory management,while reducing the number of inventory,it can also improve customer satisfaction,so that the company can obtain greater competitive advantage.Based on the research background of Tongpu company,this paper analyzes Tongpu company's inventory management by presenting the status of suppliers,purchasing process and inventory management of Tongpu,and finds that there are three problems in Tongpu company's inventory management: high inventory cost,large quantity of dull materials and low customer satisfaction.It further analyzes the causes of the problems,and finds out that Tongpu company has used a single management mode for managing the inventory,many temporary and emergency orders,wide procurement volume,inaccurate demand,low order arrival rate and long material delivery time.Through the use of supply chain management and inventory management theory,and combined with literature,fishbone diagram analysis,the paper analyzes the problems existing in the inventory management of Tongpu company,through the comparison of three scientific inventory management methods,combined with the internal situation of Tongpu company,it puts forward a new inventory management mode of vendor managed inventory,which is helpful to optimize the existing problems of the inventory management of Tongpu company.When selecting the suppliers of VMI management mode,by using the more scientific AHP to evaluate and analyze the suppliers to determine the suppliers suitable for VMI management mode.At the same time,a series of safeguard measures are implemented to ensure the smooth operation of VMI management mode,and the implementation effect of VMI management mode is analyzed.By adopting a more scientific VMI management mode to optimize the inventory management of Tongpu company,we can improve the competitiveness of Tongpu company by reducing the inventory quantity,optimizing the inventory structure,reducing the material supply cycle,and improving the effect of timely order arrival rate.
