A Comparative Study On The Reports Of "SARS" And "Covid-19" In Guangming Daily

Since the 21st century,infectious diseases occur frequently,which has become a public health emergency of special concern.Up to now,SARS and "COVID-19" are two typical events and have caused great losses to China's social development,and these two events have a high degree of similarity,such as difficult to control,high infection rate,long duration,large scope of influence,and cause public opinion.The two outbreaks have been separated for 17 years,and the media environment,information presentation and reporting discourse of mainstream media have undergone great changes.Therefore,the performance,similarities and differences,reasons for changes and improvement strategies of the media in the two major epidemic situations spanning nearly 20 years are worthy of in-depth study and discussion,which has important practical significance for the development of the mainstream media in reporting public health emergencies and even crisis.This paper takes Guangming Daily's reports on SARS and "COVID-19" as the research object,and uses content analysis and comparative analysis.After analyzing the trend of the number of reports,page presentation and text content of Guangming Daily in each stage of the development of the two outbreaks,and drawing corresponding conclusions,and then summarizing the similarities and differences of the relevant reports of Guangming Daily in the two public health emergencies,and exploring the reasons for the differences.On this basis,after further analyzing the agenda setting of Guangming Daily during the two epidemic,the paper summarize four enlightenments to improve strategies such as agenda setting,media integration construction,reporting procedures and mechanisms with the hope of providing a reference for the mainstream media to improve the reporting level of"public health emergencies",so as to make a positive contribution to reduce the impact of such major public health emergencies as "SARS" and "COVID-19" on the social and economic life order.On this basis,I further analyzed the agenda setting of Guangming Daily during the two outbreaks,and got four enlightenments about the report of public health emergencies.Based on these enlightenments,we put forward improvement strategies from the agenda setting,media integration construction,reporting procedures and mechanisms,etc.In order to provide a useful reference for the mainstream media to improve the reporting level of "public health emergencies",so as to make a positive contribution to reduce the impact of such major public health emergencies as "SARS" and "COVID-19" on the social and economic life order.
