A Comparative Study Of The Image Of Japan In The People's Daily And The Image Of Japan In The Minds Of University Students(2001-2005)

The People's Daily,the organ of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China,is China's most authoritative and large-stalwart comprehensive daily newspaper,and its image of Japan,which shapes and disseminates,is bound to have a great impact on Sino-Japanese relations.This study explores the image of Japan created by the People's Daily and the image of Japan in the hearts of Chinese university students during the period from 2001 to 2005,and makes a comparative study of the two.The study found that,First,in terms of topic(Theme)structure,the Japanese related reports of the people's daily(2001-2005)mainly focus on diplomacy and economy.College students' views on Japan are mainly focused on diplomacy,culture and economy;Second,on the trend,the Image of Japan presented by the People's Daily is relatively objective;the image of Japan in the minds of college students is very negative;the People's Daily and college students' views on Japanese diplomacy are negative,but the People's Daily is negative,the gap between the coverage is not too great,and the views of college students on Japanese diplomacy are very negative,and the People's Daily and college students' views on the Japanese economy are positive.Third,on the specific content: The People's Daily and college students have more attention to Sino-Japanese relations,but the People's Daily's coverage of Sino-Japanese relations is generally positive,and the views of college students on Sino-Japanese relations are extremely negative,basically all negative views;The biggest difference between the two is that college students pay more attention to Japanese culture,especially samurai culture,while the People's Daily pays far less attention to Japanese culture than college students.The People's Daily presents an image of Japan that denies history,returns to the old path of militarism,is gradually recovering in the economy,and has developed a scientific and technological culture.College students in mind is a negative history,re-entry of the old path of militarism,good at learning,economic status is still stable image of Japan.
