A Historical Narrative Study On The People's Daily Commemorative Reports Of The Victory Of The Anti-Japanese War

The victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japan is the first complete victory of China's fighting against foreign enemies' invasion in modern times.The historical narrative of the victory of China's War of Resistance to Japan is related to the construction and cohesion of the national spirit and the historical consensus of the collective memory of the Anti-Japanese war.By using text analysis and case study methods to analyze People's Daily "every tenth anniversary" report of the victory of the Anti-Japanese war as the sample of its historical narrative,and then explore how its narrative create the collective memory of the Anti-Japanese War through the ritual function of news communication.By analyzing the sample,there are following trends of change in the historical picture of the War of Resistance against Japan that memorial reports shows: the armed forces led by the Communist Party fought against Japan independently developed to the Anti-Japanese national united front initiated by the Communist Party of China on the basis of the Kuomintang-Communist cooperation.Then the War of Resistance Against Japan is described as the "Eastern Main Battlefield" of the World Anti-Fascist War.Commemorative journalism about memorial activities reflects three characteristics: the plebification of commemorative subject,the extensiveness of commemorative object,the diversity of commemorative form.Based on news narrative theory,the narrator of the commemorative journalism has experienced the change from single narrative to pluralistic narrative,from the perspective of intervention to non-intervention,the narrative focus changed from class struggle to nationalism,and thus focuses on world peace.Because the changes of the inter-subjectivity of the subject make narrator change the narrative content and narrative style.Reflect in the narrative grammar,the memorial journalism that commemorate the victory of the Anti-Japanese War uses the binary opposition of the narrative structure,completes the construction the "heroic motif" and the origin narrative.Reflect in the narrative discourse,the memorial journalism that commemorate the victory of the Anti-Japanese War implements the change of the narrative style by choosing different narrative rhetoric,using transferred meaning logic and creating narrative context.Commemorative journalism in accordance with a certain period at a specific time,and ritualized the media space through narration,presided over the remembrance rituals and reading rituals.The commemorative journalism of the victory of China's War of Resistance to Japan has storage function,communication function and construction function to the collective memory,its historical narrative stimulates the individual memory on the victory of the Chinese War of Resistance to Japan,updates the collective memory of the victory of the war,periodic commemorative journalism adopts ritual exercises which constantly remembering and commemorating the victory of the war to shape collective memory.Although the development of media technology makes the media users increasingly civilian,officials no longer monopolize collective memory writing,the individual collective memory narrative supplement into the official collective memory can not completely solve the problem of the authenticity of memory.Personal memory may be out of a certain purpose to narrate,it may also be incorporated into the official as its way to create collective memory.
