A Comparative Study On The Image Of The United States Presented By People's Daily And The Image Of The United States In The Minds Of College Students(2001?—2005?)

In the complex international relations,the relationship between China and the United States occupies an important position,and in the various factors affecting the relationship between China and the United States,the national image is always an important factor.As the official mainstream media,what kind of image of America has People's Daily created and spread? As an important group,what kind of American image do Chinese college students present? This paper takes People's Daily and college students from 2001 to 2005 as the research object,and USES content analysis method and text analysis method to analyze the images of the United States presented by them,and explore the similarities and differences between the images of the United States presented by People's Daily and college students.This study found that the People's Daily and college students present the image of the United States there are different concerns and preferences.According to the People's Daily,it mainly focuses on the politics,economy and diplomacy of the United States,and tends to be neutral.From the perspective of college students,they mainly focus on the politics,diplomacy and other aspects of the United States.The tendency is mainly positive.The United States created by People's Daily is not only a positive image of an active participant in international affairs with rapid economic,cultural and educational development,but also a negative image of a military power with serious social and political problems at home and domineer in the outside world.In college students' mind,the overall image of the United States is not only a modern,advanced,developed,free,diverse,beautiful and attractive image of the United States with a strong sense of science and technology,but also a domineering,powerful,arrogant and indifferent image of the United States.
