A Gender Sociology Study On The Female Images From Local News Reports

As an important part of mass media,newspaper's gender tendency have influence on public gender value shaping.The studying of media female images is an important member of feminism researching,many scholars have discussed on it.This paper focus on the presentation and analysis of female images from Fuzhou reports,extract some 2011-2013 years local reports of Strait News,Southeast Express and Fuzhou Daily.usethe quantitative analysis and the content analysis method,statistic and classify female images from written reports and picture reports,then intepret the representative text information.The results shows,females reports are less than male reports,and female images's importance is lack.Female's family responsibility and excess expends are emphasized too much.Sexism reports are lacks of gender consciousness.Molding of some female groups has obvious gender stereotype.Some females are reported as visual display targets and males have view right on female in these reports,it will strengthen the gender inequality in visual culture.on one hand,local reports praise female's value,on the other hand,local reports show the unbalances of gendered discourse rights and stereotype ideas of female images.There are reasons factors as follow:reporters,social gender consciousness's status and reality objective situations.These are also breakthrough points of improving local newspaper female reports.Only in this way,news media could play a more important role in social gender concept development.
