The New Curriculum Standard for General High School Language states that the language curriculum of general high school should play a unique function in inheriting and developing Chinese culture,enhancing national cohesion and creativity,and playing a proper role in cultivating socialist builders and successors with comprehensive development of morality,intelligence,physical fitness,and aesthetics.Folk culture,as a part of Chinese culture,is a teaching content for high school students to cultivate their character and intelligence,so it is of positive significance to study folk culture in the classroom of language’s novel teaching.This thesis investigates the teaching of folk culture in novels based on the requirements of the New Curriculum Standards for General High School Languages and the Outline of Basic Education Curriculum Reform for students’ development and the current situation of students’ learning novels,combining folklore theory and humanism theory,using questionnaire survey method,interview method,literature analysis method and other research methods,relying on the compulsory and optional series in the Ministry’s version of high school language textbooks,and finding problems in teaching and learning,and explore effective measures to solve the problems.It is hoped that students can explore and apply China’s excellent folk culture to enhance their learning of novel,and that teachers can change their teaching methods that need to be improved,maintain the effective teaching methods,and add folklore elements to classroom teaching of novels to improve the efficiency of novel teaching.The full paper,except for the introduction and conclusion,is divided into four main parts are as follows.The first chapter outlines the theoretical basis for studying folk culture in high school novel,and distribution of folk culture.First,the theoretical bases for studying folk culture are introduced,including humanistic theory,literary theory,and folklore theory.Secondly,the distribution of folklore content in ministerial novels and the characteristics of distribution are summarized.Chapter 2 analyzes the value of studying folk culture for high school students,mainly in terms of the value of novel teaching and the value of students’ development.The feasibility of teaching folklore in novels is analyzed in terms of interpreting novels from new perspectives,serving novel themes,and improving students’ language,thinking,aesthetic,and literary literacy.Chapter 3 analyzes the current situation of high school students learning folk culture in novels,designs different questionnaires for teachers and students,and after processing and analyzing the results of the survey,points out the progress and problems that have been made in the application of folk culture to the teaching of novels in high school language,and gives attributions to the existing problems.Chapter 4 proposes specific and feasible strategies to address the existing problems.It mainly promotes the application of folk culture in novel teaching by adopting the methods of interpreting the folk culture elements in novels,tapping folk culture to serve the theme,making students resonate with folk emotions from the humanistic theme and expanding the novel teaching methods together.
