Folk culture is a living cultural phenomenon that bridges the material and spiritual lives of the people,reflects the will of the people in folk communities and collectives,and is practiced and passed down from generation to generation mainly through people as carriers.The fact that Chinese folk culture has been handed down from history and still functions in real life today shows that it has been able to withstand the test of history and has been recognized by generations of people.Nowadays,in the new round of curriculum reform in China,"core language literacy" has become a hot topic in the education sector,among which "cultural inheritance and understanding" points out that students should inherit and carry forward the excellent Chinese traditional culture in language learning.Folk culture is an important branch of Chinese traditional culture,and its related resources can be found in the junior high school language teaching materials of the Ministry of Education,therefore,how to combine folk culture with junior high school language teaching is a topic worth discussing.Through combing the contents of the textbooks,I found that the folklore in the textbooks mainly include four categories: material folklore,spiritual folklore,linguistic folklore and social folklore,which cover all aspects of daily life and are very widely distributed.These rich folk culture resources have two major functions: education and teaching.In terms of educational functions,folk culture can cultivate students' national spirit,enhance their aesthetic sensibilities and strengthen their moral cultivation;in terms of pedagogical functions,folk culture not only helps students interpret texts,but also enriches their knowledge structure and broadens their cognitive field.In order to make the most of these rich folk culture resources in the language classroom,the author conducted a questionnaire survey on the current situation of teaching folk culture and formulated corresponding teaching strategies in response to the teaching problems reflected in the questionnaire,in order to promote students' understanding and learning of folk culture and thus enhance their sense of identity and pride in national culture.
