Public welfare behavior is an important reflection of citizens' personal cultivation and social civilization.It is the behavior made by individuals or social groups based on a certain sense of concern and altruism towards specific social groups or common concerns of human development,such as giving rescues,donations and volunteering.Adolescent period is the "accelerating period" of life development and the critical period of self-development and social development.Participation in public welfare activities is of great significance to promote the adolescents' self-development and improve their well-being.Self-determinism states that the satisfaction of autonomy,competence,and relationship needs could promote their self-growth,self-integration,and well-being.Therefore,this study aims to explore the influence of public welfare behaviors on adolescents' eudaimonic well-being,as well as the mechanism of basic psychological needs and individual growth initiative.Methods:The current study investigated 1110 students,from three middle schools in xi'an,shaanxi province by convenient sampling and measured their public welfare behaviors,eudaimonic well-being,basic psychological needs and personal growth initiative with the questionnaire of adolescents' public welfare behaviors,flourishing scale,basic psychological needs scale and personal growth initiative scale.There were 554 male and 556 female students,541 junior high school students and 569 senior high school students in this survey,they are all in 12 and 18,with an average age of 14.85(SD=1.62).Results:(1)Among the motivations of adolescents public welfare behavior,moral public welfare occupied the main position;among the relationship of the three basic psychological needs,relationship need to satisfy the most intense,the second is autunomy,the last is the ability to need,but overall the level of the basic psychological need to meet also at a higher level.(2)There were significant positive correlations among reward and moral public welfare behavior,the basic needs of autonomy,relationship and ability,personal growth initiative and eudaimonic well-being;(3)On the effect of public welfare on adolescents' eudaimonic well-being,the basic psychological need of autonomy and the initiative of personal growth play multiple chain mediating effects;(4)On the effect of moral public welfare on adolescents'eudaimonic well-being,the basic psychological need of autonomy and competence with the initiative of personal growth play multiple chain mediating effects;(5)On the effect of reward public welfare on adolescents' eudaimonic well-being,the basic psychological need of autonomy and competence with the initiative of personal growth play multiple chain mediating effects.Conclusions:The more active adolescents participate in public welfare activities,the higher level of eudaimonic well-being will be.Therefore,strengthening public welfare education is an effective way to promote the integration of socialist core values into the youth group,which is of great practical significance to further realize the goal of building a harmonious society.
