The fast and change in the times makes the middle school students face more external temptations when they study,thus appearing in the lack of motivation to learn.The formation of learning motivation is affected by the environmental factors and individual factors.This study started form the factors of learning engagement to explore the influence of family function on middle school students’ learning engagement and its mechanism.The purpose of this study was to understand the current stuiation of middle school students’ learning engagement,family function,social support and personal growth initiative,and the relationship among four variables.Then,to explore the mediating role of social support and personal growth initiative on the relationship between family function and learning engagement.Through the method of cluster convenience sampling,in this study,UWES-S,GFF,SSRS and PGIS-Ⅱ were used to investigate 777 middle school students.Using some statistical tools such SPSS21.0,Amos22.0,Mplus7.0 to conduct group difference test,correlation analysis,and verified the relationship model among the four factors.The main finding were as follows:1.The learning engagement of middle school students was above the middle level,and there were significant differences in gender;Family function was above the middle level and there were significant differences in gender;Social support was above the middle level,and there were significant differences in gender and the origin of students;Personal growth initiative was above the middle level and there were no significant differences in sex,gender,the origin of students and whether the students were only child or not.2.There were significant correlations among family function,social support,personal growth initiative and learning engagement,and family function could significantly postively predict learning engagement.3.Social support and personal growth initiative exerted separate mediating effects on the association of family functioning with middle school students’ learning engagement;social support and personal growth initiative exerted chain mediating effects on the association of family functioning with middle school students’ learning engagementant.
