This is an E-C translation report on the translation of Chapter 2 My Approach to Mind-Body-Spirit Healing,Chapter 3 It’s Time to Stop Fighting and Chapter 4 Create a Solid Healing Foundation of a famous American bestseller: How to Heal Yourself When No One Else Can:A Total Self-Healing Approach for Mind,Body & Spirit written by American psychotherapist Amy Scher.Through her own personal experience and the cases she has witnessed,Amy Scher puts forward her own unique views on this therapy, anticipating people trying energy and emotional therapy. This report summarizes and reflects on the translation process of the original text.It makes an introduction to the communicative translations which guides the translation practice and the characteristics of the original text as both an informative text and vocative tex.The report mainly analyzes the problems encountered in the process of translation, namely, how to translate the technical terms of the original text, and how to deal with translation of such language units as ellipsis, long and difficult sentences. In view of the difficulties in the process of translation, the translator attempts to use Newmark’s communicative translation theory as a guide, and combines with the translation practice,to make a case study from the lexical level and the syntactic level, and to explore how to use appropriate translation techniques and strategies in the process of translation to achieve the purpose of communication. It is concluded that:at the lexical level, the translator should not only transmit the original information, but also choose the lexical collocations that conform to the target readers’ expression habits,so as to make the translation easy to understand and smooth. At the syntactic level, the translator should not stick to the form of the original text, but should adjust the logical structure of the original text, cut down the redundant semantic elements, add appropriate content and other translation techniques to make the sentences with unclear semantics clear and easy to understand. At the textual level, great emphasis should be given to the conceptual and logical rationality and semantic unity of various components within a text. Finally, the translator hopes that under the guidance of communicative translation theory, the translation can be more in line with the target culture,so that the translation can be accepted both in content and form by the readers, and help the target readers grasp the key information quickly.
