The present report is a study on the translation of Chapters 1-5 from The Logistics Trend Radar of DHL(the 5th Edition).The text is on management,falling into the category of informative text,which is characterized by both specialty and popularity.With the guidance of communicative translation theory,the report analyzes the problems and difficulties encountered in the translation process in terms of words and sentences,aiming to reproduce the information in the original text completely and give readers a better reading experience.The following conclusions are reached through case analysis:(1)At the lexical level,word class conversion is adopted to deal with the difficulties in translation,that is,based on English static expression and Chinese dynamic tendency,adjectives,abstract nouns and prepositions in the English text are converted into verbs respectively;by consulting relevant parallel texts,conventional translation and annotation are used to accurately convey the information of terms and abbreviations,ensuring the fluency and accuracy of the translation and achieving effective communication.(2)At the sentence level,linear translation,division,and voice shift are employed to make the translation conform to the expression habits of the target language readers,thus improving the readability;by using order adjustment and amplification,the content of the translation turns to be coherent and strives to reproduce the original text faithfully,so as to achieve communicative purposes.The report also draws inspiration from the translation practice: Apart from a good command of translation theory and techniques,it is necessary for a translator to have a broad cultural vision,extensive knowledge,and good writing skills both in English and Chinese. |
