| The reclusive literati was a culture and phenomenon unique to the literati and scholars of ancient China,and Xu Ye was only one of them.As a famous relic and hermit,he was also an influential poet in the poetry circles of Shanzuo and even the whole country in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties,and his poetry was unique,with a very personal artistic and aesthetic style,which made him famous at that time.When he was in the special period of the late Ming and early Qing dynasties,he chose to be a recluse,not only to avoid the world,but also to choose literature and Taoist enlightenment.The poetry of hermitage was an important subject and content in his poetic creation,and it was also the embodiment of his idea of hermitage in his artistic works.Most of the studies on Xu Ye have been scattered,focusing on several aspects,such as the examination of his birth and death dates and the content of his poems,and there are not many research results,while a comprehensive study is missing.In this paper,based on a careful reading of Xu Ye’s poetic works and other relevant literature,we focus on revealing Xu Ye’s identity as a hermit,firstly,we introduce Xu Ye’s reclusive life,sort out the timeline of his reclusive life and the important people he visited,and find that Xu Ye’s reclusive life went through several stages,including revealing his aversion to the world and wanting to live in seclusion immediately,becoming more and more reclusive,gradually starting to live in seclusion,and abandoning all life,vowing to live in seclusion and die under the spring and forest.The literati and hermits he met influenced his reclusive thinking and behavior.The idyllic life of Xu Ye in Donggao and his southern travels not only became important elements of his poetry and influenced the creation of his hermit poems,but also further deepened his belief in hermitage and his return to the mountains.In addition,the article focuses on the themes and ideological contents of Xu Ye’s hermitage poems.The themes of idyll,landscape,and Buddhism are studied in some detail,and the themes reflect Xu Ye’s admiration for the sages,his return to the idyll,and his friendship with famous scholars.Finally,the cultural roots of the era in which Xu Ye’s hermit poems were composed are explored,and an evaluation is made of Xu Ye’s artistic style of hermit poetry and of Xu Ye himself. |
