This paper is a translation practice report.Malcolm Bradbury's novel To the Hermitage is a representative of the British academic novels. The first three chapters are divided into two parts and two main story lines. In the process of translation, the translator mainly uses the following methods.Firstly,in terms of vocabulary, the translator uses the method of amplification and omission.Through providing necessary information, the final translation will be more accurately and clearly. In order to reproduce the original content for readers in a concise and impressive way,the translator uses the method of words reduction.Secondly, the translator mainly analyzes long sentences by using the methods of division and recasting. The final part is passive voice, which includes adding the subject and invisible passive voice.By analyzing this part, the final translation will be more suitable for the Chinese language habits.Overall, after this translation practice, the translator recognizes the lack of translation skills and literary knowledge.Through continuous scrutiny and elaboration of the original text, the translator accumulates more experience, which provides guidance for the translator's future works.
