| This paper is a translation report of children’s literature.The selected text,Nancy and Plum,is written by Betty McDonald,a famous American best-selling children’s literature writer.This report attempts to explore the study of children literature’s translation under the guidance of the theory of Reception Aesthetics.The key points of Reception Aesthetics are the status of readers and horizon of expectation which offers great guidance and enlightenment to the translation of children literature.On the basis of understandig characteristics of children literature and expected horizon of children readers,this report analyses the difficulties in the translation process and adopts corresponding translation strategies to meet the readers’ expected horizon.Using Reception Aesthetics as a theoretic basis,this report explores relevant translation strategies of this translated text Nancy and Plum from the lexical level,syntactic level and rhetorical level.At lexical level,the translator uses reduplicated,onomatopoeia words and modal particles to meet children’s needs of aesthetic taste and reproduce the children’s interest.At syntactic level,the translator simplifies the long and complex sentence structures,uses rhythmical and visualized expressions and fill the meaning vacancies in dialogues during translation process to make translated text more understandable and acceptable.At rhetorical level,methods like simile,personification and rhyme can be adopted to represent the original style and make the text more readable and acceptable to the readers.At last,the translator comes a conclusion that Reception Aesthetics is of great significance in the guidance of the translation of children’s literature and points out the limitation in the translation process. |
