As a special literature type, children’s literature(CL)has its own characteristics. The Reception Aesthetics Theory is characterized by the core role of readers in the process of reading, which attaches importance to the participation of readers and shifts the focus of literary research from the text to readers. In China, the research on Reception Aesthetics in CL translation is insufficient. Therefore, starting with interprets and analyzes Anne of Green Gables,a famous Canadian children’s literature work,in this thesis, the author probes into exploring the realization of Reception Aesthetics in the translation of children’s literature.First, this thesis discusses the two most important aspects of Reception Aesthetics, namely“reader status” and “expectation horizon” and then apply these two important viewpoints to the English—Chinese translation of children’s literature, and analyze the guiding role of Reception Aesthetics in the study of children’s literature translation.Second, through sorting out the questionnaire and interview, the thesis tries to understand and analyze students’ reading situation of children’s literature works and their tendency to different translation style from the horizontal dimension. The results show that it is necessary to adopt the guidance of Reception Aesthetics theory and choose appropriate strategies and standards in the translation of children’s literature.By studying translation examples, this thesis collects corpus from linguistic categories such as lexicology, rhetoric and syntax, makes a comparative analysis from the perspective of Reception Aesthetics, then discusses and concludes three principles.First,in terms of lexicology, considering the unique language style of children’s literature, the use of colloquial words, visual words, overlapping words or onomatopoeia in translation can better stimulate the imagination of children readers and enhance their understanding.Second, from rhetoric perspective, the translation of children’s literature process should pay attention to the target audience’s expectation vision and status by using appropriate rhetorical devices to accurately convey the meaning of the original text which also enhance the aesthetic value of the translation.Third,at the syntactic level, the translator should adapt long sentences to short sentences in the process of translation, and readjusts the order of sentence information if necessary.
