A Practical Study To Promote Community Involvement For People Recovering From Mental Disorders ——An Example Of X Institution Community Theater Activities In Kunming

Mental illness is characterized by a long course of illness,difficult to cure,and easy to relapse.The ultimate goal of mental disorder rehabilitation is to restore people recovering from mental disorder social function and return to society.Hospital treatment can control patients’ symptoms,but it cannot achieve the goal of social reintegration.Besides,there is widespread social prejudice and discrimination against patients with mental disorders,excluding them from participating in social,economic and cultural life,resulting in their inability to integrate into society after discharge.For the patients recovering from hospital discharge,community has become the most important place for rehabilitation,and community rehabilitation has become an important part of the rehabilitation of mental disorders.Community rehabilitation emphasizes the design of community rehabilitation activities and the participation of them so that they can interact with others and participate in community and social life on an equal footing with other residents of the community.In this paper,to promote the community participation of survivors as the goal,on the X club in the city of kunming,the author in the process of professional practice in the use of community theatre activities promote the practice of community participation,Under the guidance of energy enhancement and ecosystem theory,this paper analyzes the objectives,processes and effects of the activity,reflects on the practice from the perspective of social work professional,and proposes suggestions on how social workers can better promote the community participation of ex-mental patients.The study found that community theater,as a method based on community and oriented to increasing energy,can improve the level of community participation of the rehabilitated,strengthen the sense of participation of the rehabilitated,exercise the ability of the rehabilitated to participate,win the support of family members and reduce the stigma of the rehabilitated by the society,and help to achieve the rehabilitation goal of integrating into the society.The advantage of community theater in promoting community participation of ex-mental patients is that it providesa platform for discharged patients to participate,integrates multiple resources and promotes they to help themselves.At the same time,community participation is inseparable from the acceptance of the social environment,community theater needs to strengthen the cooperation with the local community.In addition,as a method originating from the west,community theater has a specific historical and cultural background in its emergence and development.To introduce it into China,it needs to be localized to adapt to the local practice environment.
