The Effect Of Community Rehabilitation Services On The Return To Society Of Patients With Mental Disorders

Recent years,mental disorders have attracted more and more attention.Our country is faced the same dilemma that the number of patients has increased worldwide,but mental health resources are relatively scarce.Due to the particularity of mental illness,patients generally suffer from social discrimination.In addition,media loudly proclaimed some violent incidents,many patients are not accepted by society or their families because of social circumstances and their own volition,unable to return or unwilling to return to the society that lead to a heavy burden on the family economy and slow recovery process.Therefore,the problems that patients faced to return to society and participate in society need to be solved urgently.Both the “Guidelines for Mental Health Policy and Services” issued by WHO in 2003,and the “Mental Health Law” that was promulgated in 2013 after more than 20 years of development are mentioned: It is necessary to use community-based rehabilitation services as a guide to solve the long-term rehabilitation problems of people with mental disorders after leaving professional mental health medical institutions.In Shanghai,community rehabilitation services were started relatively early.212 community-based rehabilitation institutions “Yangguang Xinyuan” for people with mental disorders have been established in the city at percent and have reached certain remarkable achievements.For patients,the rehabilitation institution has an extraordinary meaning;it is the patient’s home in the community.This study expects to use the Shanghai community-based rehabilitation institution “Yangguang Xinyuan” as an example,starting from the current situation and service objects,systematic analysis the role,inadequacy and causes of community rehabilitation institutions for helping people with mental disorders return to the society under the framework of social integration theory,providing recommendations to improve and also can be used as a reference for helping patients with mental disorders return to the society.In this study,through interviews with staff from sample institutions and questionnaires from trainees,combined with other research data,concluded that:(1)The effectiveness of community rehabilitation services in building an external environment for patients to return to the society is to reduce family economic burden through welfare protection;let patients to go out of family;provide integration channel of social resources.Patient individually self-improvement is reflected in the increased willingness to return to the society and the improvement of her ability and confidence.And it also promotes social awareness and tolerance.(2)The insufficiency of community rehabilitation in helping patients to return to the society is reflected in: small coverage of rehabilitation services;the rehabilitation environment is relatively closed;lack of effective family and social support for integration;insufficient guidance for returning to the society;insufficient help for students’ mental health.(3)These shortages,from the angle about building and development of community rehabilitation service platform,are caused by the differences in government goals;the scarcity of resource allocation;the limitations of service forms;lack of professional strength to support.Meanwhile,the lack of family social cognition and support approaches,individual student factors are also cause these shortages.(4)In order to improve the role of community rehabilitation in helping patients to return to the society,from the perspective of platform construction management,I propose to change the government’s goals;further strengthen resource input and guidance in parallel;continuously enhance the norms and transparent construction;Increase professionalism.From the perspective of social support,I suggest strengthening publicity and building a more open platform for social participation.To promote personal ability of patients,I propose to change the guiding method of return society and work out individuation plan of community rehabilitation.
