This study was carried out to examine the impact of salary on job satisfaction in Ghana using Sky Broadcasting Company limited as the scope.There are many factors or variables which could affect job satisfaction.Salary is one of the major factors that could possibly affect job satisfaction.In other words,how bad or good the salary structure of any organization is,could either affect productivity of the organization.This study is an attempt to know whether salaries has significant impact on Job Satisfaction in Sky Broadcasting Company Limited.The research adopted a method of research structure and the background investigation technique to provide answers to look into inquiries defined.A non-likelihood plan with the purposive inspecting procedure was utilized to choose and test the state of mind of the employees.The research design employed in this study is a descriptive survey where the total population of 400 workers both at Sunny FM and Sky Properties Limited which are the main Subsidiary companies under Sky Broadcasting Company Limited.Stratified random sampling schemes were employed to select the sample of 278 workers.The major tool used in this study was a self-designed questionnaire entitled,“Employee Salary Inventory”(ESI)and “Employee Job Satisfaction”(EJS).The ESI consisted of two sections: Section A was made up of personal data such as sex,Age,Marital status and Department.Section B comprised 30 items designed to measure salary satisfaction and divided according to such variables as Role in organization.The EJS was made up of 30 items.The investigation,along these lines inferred that incredible steps be made to inspire all staff to upgrade execution.The analyst prescribes that administration appends more significance to issues of representative inspiration to influence the establishment to endure among its rivals.Job satisfaction inherent in the job itself relates to the nature of work,skill required,occupational status,geographical location and size of the organization.First,the nature of work determines job satisfaction.Usually,varied work causes more job satisfaction than repetitive work.Obviously,the factory workers are found to be less satisfied than professionals.However,the relationship between job satisfaction and nature of work is confused by the involvement of other factors such as skill,pay and status.Second,the job satisfaction is markedly determined by the skill required in the job.Factors such as conditions of work and wages only assume significance where satisfaction in skill declines.Third,occupational status as perceived by the individual himself and others whose opinion he values forms a factor in job satisfaction.Frequently,white-collar jobs are rated high,although there may be variations in the prestige value of the occupations from community to community.It has been indicated that individuals are less satisfied in jobs,which have lower social status and prestige.Fourth,geographical locations are related to job satisfaction.Job Satisfaction has become a more recognized term over the past decade and it a concern for a lot of both employees and employers since this factor goes a long to affect the performance of employees and also boost the performance rate and productivity of any organization.This study concludes that,there was a significant relationship between salaries and job satisfaction and as well,the socio demographic characteristics,experiences and workplace have effects or relation with job satisfaction.This emphasis on adopting strategies to reduce perceived salary related issues and thus Increase employees job satisfaction.It is also important for employers to be able to manage their employee's salary issues to increase job satisfaction and performance.The participation from employees may lead to higher productivity if the employees fit the tasks given.This will lead to customer's satisfaction thus the employees will feel happy on their job performance.
