After the reform and opening up,the socialist market economy has achieved remarkable results and China's GDP has been rising year by year with the urbanization process keeping accelerating.Since the implementation of the 13th Five-Year Plan,the building of a well-off society in an all-round way has entered a decisive stage and urbanization has reached a new height.As a product of historical civilization,the ancient town is a microcosm of the ancient Chinese society in today's world.The memory of the ancient town has also become a valuable asset to Chinese people.However,under the impact of the urbanization,the memory of the ancient town is disappearing in people's lives.In addition,the commercialization and tourism are getting worse these years.The ancient town Jiangnan gradually becomes homogeneous and the unique memory which should belong to the locality couldn't be spread to public,but was replaced by crowded shops and tourists.As an important part of inheriting traditional culture,the memory of the ancient town has drawn much attention nowadays.Many scholars have started to study it.This paper studies the communication of the historic memory of Wuxi Dangkou ancient town through the historical materials and oral history of aboriginal people.It summarizes the themes of this town's memory and the"memory loss" crisis,analyzes the cause of "memory loss",and then offers some strategies for getting the memory back by which it is also a reflection to the preservation of ancient town memories in the process of modernization.The paper is divided into five parts.The first part is the introduction,including the research background,research purpose,research methods,research objects,the current research status at home and abroad and the historical town memory concept.This part mainly expounds the research background and significance,combs the domestic and foreign related literature research and comprehensive literature paves the way for summarizing the ancient town memory below.Finally,according to the concept of collective memory,referring to the concept of urban memory and rural memory,this paper puts forward the concept of ancient town memory.The second part is the theme of the memory theme of Dangkou Ancient Town.First of all,it summarizes the natural and cultural environment of Dangkou Ancient Town.Secondly,according to the memory historical materials of Dangkou ancient town,the theme of "printing,filial&faithful,folk custom" was put forward from the perspective of "individual,clan and group",in this way,we can conclude the dissemination theme which is "crafts,spirit and culture" of ancient town memory.The third part is about the analysis of the current situation of memory loss in ancient towns.Then combined with the current era,this paper puts forward the deep reasons.According to the theme of ancient town memory in the second part,the fourth part summarizes the intrinsic motive power of memory from the aspects of "individual,clan and group",and puts forward the realistic ways of memory to maintain the ancient town memory in today's society.The last part is an epilogue,summarizing the full text of the important points,pointing out the deficiencies of this paper,and looking forward to the relevant research in the future.
