In recent years,elementary curriculum reform is carrying out in our whole country.Ethnic minority areas also keep up with the trend and take some steps to put the reform into practice.Taking the second-grade students in Mongolian middle school as research objects,this study uses case study method to find out English teaching current situation of junior middle school in Inner Mongolia under the background of curriculum reform,Aims at seeking general rule of English teaching in Mongolian junior middle school and exploring the students’characteristics and existing problems in English learning,this research try to explain the causes of the exiting problem and explore the relevant factors that affectstudents’English learning.Then put forward some improvement suggestions to improve the English teaching of the region.As is known to all,the essential period of students’language competence development is at the stage of elementary education and the junior high school stage is a crucial period for students to learn a language.With the guidance of current bilingual education policy,primary and secondary schools in Inner Mongolia open the English course in an all-round way.Normally,students start learning English from grade three and English learning especially in junior high school is not only a kind of consolidation and summary of former English knowledge but also a solid foundation for later English learning.Therefore English learning in junior middle school stage plays an indispensable role in the whole English learning phase.It is understood that students’English learning way in Inner Mongolia is mainly classroom learning.This research attempts to provide beneficial experience or advice to the students’English learning that is in other ethnic minority areas based on status investigation of the Mongolian middle school English teaching and learning.The research is divided into three parts:The first part is the introduction which mainly explains the background,methods and purpose of the resear-ch.In addition,some relevant terms and resear-ch questions are involved.The second part is divided into three chapters.The first chapter is a brief introduction of Inner Mongolia’s foreign language curriculum policy under the background of bilingual education.The second chapter mainly analyzes the current situation of Mongolian middle school English teaching which includes the design and implementation of the questionnaire.Through analyzing the results of the survey from students and teachers the research tries to explore existing problems and characteristics in local English teaching.The third chapter is a detailed analysis of the factors which affect junior middle school English teaching in ethnic minority areas from subjective and objective aspects.The third part mainly discusses some feasible suggestions about how to improve the English teaching level in ethnic minority areas.The resear-ch hold a clear point that the parties should create a good learning atmosphere for students based on students’ long-term development to make students be able to enjoy the learning and improve their comprehensive ability with a positive attitude.
