A Study On In-depth Reporting Development Of Mainstream Media

The media,as the disseminator and shaper of social culture,has played an essential role in the pass 70 years of rapid development in China.As the mouthpiece of the party and the government,the mainstream media has occupied a dominant position for a long time.Since entering the new media era,the mainstream media has assumed the important task of guiding public opinion and spreading mainstream values in the new context due to its special social responsibility.Academic circles have a common understanding of the origin of in-depth reporting,which refers to that in-depth reporting originated in the 1920 s and was introduced into China from the west in the mid-1980 s.With its characteristics of cognition integration,public opinion guidance and social alarming,in-depth reporting once became a "sharp weapon" in the hands of mainstream media.In the context of new media,facing the simple and homogeneous information on the Internet,in-depth reporting analyzes the complicated background behind the news in a step-by-step and in-depth way,restores the complete picture of news and reveals the truth of events.As a way of "reporting the truth in a profound and comprehensive way",it once played an important role in the supervision of public opinion and the publicity of the party's line,principles and policies.At the same time,however,it cannot be ignored that under the impact of the new media,the traditional media has taken a hit for a long time.In the environment where the audience is used to shallow reading,instant information conflicts with in-depth reporting,and the advertising revenue model falls into a bottleneck,in-depth reporting can barely cope with the situation.Since many mainstream media have integrated their business lines,in-depth reporting has become the first batch of sections to be shut down due to its special reporting methods and conflicts with new media.The in-depth reporting that once injected the mainstream media strong impetus now enters such a situation,which makes people sigh with regret.This paper selects News Probe as the research object,which was once CCTV's ace program and represents the highest development level of in-depth TV reporting in China.It has been 23 years since it started broadcasting on May 17,1996.The author focuses on analyzing the different development of News Probe in the different development period of traditional media and new media from the perspectives of topic selection,survey types,reporting tendency and reporting methods,so as toclarify the development and evolution of News Probe and clearly see the influence of new media on News Probe.In the selection of analysis samples,the author chose the program from 1996 to 2006 and from 2009 to 2019 as the main analysis texts of this paper.Using qualitative and quantitative research methods,the author explored how a popular program went from peak to through systematic sampling and text analysis,and then reshaped the development path of this brand program under the trend of media convergence.
