This paper firstly analyzes the current population status and media ecology,and proposes that under the background of population aging,the research on media use of the old has a strong reality and urgency.Secondly,by sorting out the existing researches on the old and media at home and abroad,this paper sorts out three major problems concerning the development of the old media industry,the elderly media audience and the elderly media literacy education,and finds that China lacks the underlying thinking and systematic research on the old's use of media,and the research perspective is narrower than that of other countries.Therefore,this paper is devoted to the study of the current media use status of the old,and thinking and discussing the influencing factors of the current use status of the elderly,and finally put forward Suggestions that meet the needs of The Times and the characteristics of the old.The research object of this paper chooses the urban elderly with relatively high media use level to ensure that the research results have certain reference value for the future media development.The comprehensive level of the research site was selected in Nanchang,a second-tier city in China,to ensure the universality and representativeness of the research conclusions.The research method adopts the combination of quantitative research and qualitative research,namely questionnaire survey and in-depth interview.It tries to present a comprehensive picture of media use of the old from the outside to the inside,so as to ensure the richness and depth of research content.Through the questionnaire survey to collect 394 elderly media usage,it is concluded that most of the old to use media within 3 hours,prefer traditional media,tend to focus on things around,mainly for entertainment and communication,learning enthusiasm is inversely proportional with the age,learning disabilities is given priority to with operation trival,but the overall intention is relatively strong.Based on in-depth interviews with 10 senior citizens,this paper proposes discussions on media use and context,media convergence,needs and risks for the old,and concludes that media context lacks sense of reality and it is difficult to eliminate the boundary between reality and media context.Media convergence has lowered the threshold of use,but whether it can truly realize the convenience of the old remains to be debated,which widens the digital gap between generations and within the old group.The media can basically meet the needs of the old at all levels proposed by maslow;The use of media has the superposition of traditional media risks and new media risks,which magnifies the risk perception of the old and other complex situations.Finally,this article makes three recommendations for the old to use the media.First,from the media supply side,design media that meets the needs of the elderly.The media form should be concise,comprehensive,and interactive,and the media content should be traceable,subdivided,and productized.At the same time,makemedia visualization operations Handbook;second is to stimulate the endogenous power of the old to use the media,improve the old's intellectual literacy,break through the original media literacy barriers,strengthen the old's correct understanding of the intelligent media,enhance the old's acceptance of the intelligent media,and docking technology Establish a think tank for the media of the old with the media of the old to achieve technology-guided use.In addition,establish a mutual-aid learning community for the use of media for the elderly;third,improve the social service system for the use of media for the old,and create an atmosphere for social media for the old.First,give full play to the strength of the family and teach by relatives;second,the government formulates a supporting system for the old to use media,risk monitoring and punishment;third,the media industry strengthens self-discipline and community organizations,volunteers and other group organizations help and support.
