As a popular mobile social platform,WeChat moments has increasingly become a new field for self-representation,opinions expression and relationships maintenance.The rural resident who is important providers of WeChat moments contents,however,has caused a series of problems in WeChat moments' self-representation owing to the hysteresis of media exposure and literacy,resulting in adverse social impact.From the perspective of goffman's dramaturgical theory,this study carries out qualitative research on rural residents' self-representation in WeChat moments through questionnaire survey and in-depth interview,regarding the WeChat moments as the performance foreground of individuals,and the self-presentation of rural residents in WeChat moments as a kind of performance.The study nosed out that the role-playing of rural residents in the self-presentation of WeChat moments could roughly be divided into six types,including emotion pouring type,life display type,WeChat official account message forwarding type,jokes sharing and superstar chasing type,hot spot reviewing type and Micro-business advertising type.The study also found that rural residents showed four group characteristics in WeChat moments,they tend to use real identity information and take the major interactive approach of giving a like.And usually rural residents express extreme emotions through refreshing and share moments without group-division.What's more,there are significant differences in self-presentation motivation and strategies in rural residents' WeChat moments under different gender,age,education level and professional background: Male groups are more inclined to share moments with the motivation of social intercourse,ability display and information sharing,while females pay more attention to entertainment and self-disclosure.Based on in-depth interview and questionnaire data,it is found that the self-presentation in WeChat moments of rural residents generally has problems in content homogenization,insufficient information recognition ability and lack of awareness of network security.This requires the joint improvement and standardization of rural residents themselves,the perfection of WeChat media function and the supervision of the government and the public.
