The era of social media has changed the way of people interact,from face-to-face spread to through the Internet now.The social media represented by We Chat makes people's communication more and more convenient.This article takes Owen Goffman's self-presentation theory as the core theoretical perspective.In the meantime,this paper explores the social changes that social networks bring to people.At the same time,it studies the phenomenon of selfpresentation in social media by using the circle of friends in We Chat as the main research object,and using interviews,participative observation and questionnaire surveys.In addition,this study also compares the other social software,to find the difference between the self-presentation of microblogging,watercress and other platforms.Trying to discuss how in the current era of the prevalence of social media,how impression management can make us face in the information explosion era.This article explores three issues: first,how do we all present ourselves in a circle of friends in We Chat friends circles;and second,what is the difference between selfpresenting phenomena in different social media environments.Which compares the main differences between the three social media softwares We Chat,microblogging and Douban.Third,the problem caused by the self-presenting phenomenon in social media under the condition of rapid development of science and technology.For these problems,how can we make a better circumvention.Give a suggestion on self-presentation,that is,how to carry out impression management.In the first part of the dissertation,the author first sorts out the reason of the topic and the theory used in the dissertation.At the same time,a literature review of selfpresenting researches in social networks by domestic and foreign scholars is given.The second part of the thesis responds to the first research question mainly through the questionnaire survey of We Chat users.Explore ways to show yourself in We Chat circle of friends.In addition to actively commenting with friends in the circle of friends,praising the interaction,the circle of self-presented in the circle of friends to classify the performance and draw conclusions: Relatively speaking,We Chat circle of friends is still based on strong relationships Under the different strength of the relationship between the user will choose to block the way to self-presentation.Users are more willing to see and present a private life of the content.The third part of the thesis compares the self-presentation in Weibo and Douban platforms,which is different from that of We Chat friends,through participatory observation and interview.Through comparative analysis,it is concluded that,due to the different positions and functions of each platform,the tastes in the platform show different proportions.And relative to the We Chat circle of friends,Weibo and Douban platform weak relationship,public space is more broad.The fourth part tries to manage the self-esteem of social media by means of controlling self-performance through interview and part of questionnaire survey.Selfpresentation in social media differs from reality in face-to-face communication,and actors inevitably produce spectators' imagination and may deviate from their presentation due to inaccurate audience imagination.Actors and spectators in different situations may also cause the problem of contextual collapse.In response to these problems caused by self-presenting in social media,we try to give some suggestions based on the principle of "least common multiple".As social media continues to evolve,We Chat is one of the representatives and the circle of friends is constantly innovating.Regardless of the type of social media,users are encouraged to share information,but whether the ego in social media is real or not,how to deal with the self-presenting phenomenon in the social network reasonably should be explored.The significance of this study lies in that Goffman's self-presentation and a series of theories are based on the perspective of theatrical theory,mainly for the face-to-face communication mode.In the face of the social media era of network communication phenomenon,some changes have taken place.The author hopes that it can provide some reference for future public self-presenting strategies in social networks.
