The relationship between children and television has always been a concern among the whole world.Wilbur Schramm,an American scholar of mass communications, put forward in his book Television in the Lives of Our Children that children are media users, which means that children are users and active selectors for TV,not passive selectors. It can be seen that as a form of media,TV is easier for children to contact and receive information.Since children are the future of one country, their media usage and children's TV program distribution are naturally of great concern. On the one hand, teenagers are a huge group for children's TV programs.Through the programs, they can touch the outside world and social information. The program has become a part of children's lives. On the other hand, children's TV programs affect the shaping and formation of children's ideas.“Maybe from the age of two, toddlers have been led to children's TV programs, which build the children's initial knowledge lineage and form the initial morality criteria”.Therefore, most countries formulate relevant policies and invest a lot of money to promote the development of children's TV programs.Against this situation, children's TV programs gradually come into being more types, more channels and larger scales. With the development of science and technology and the Internet, new media forms are emerging one after another. As China has entered a new stage of media communication, traditional media forms have been affected. It is inevitable for the children's television programs to encounter new media forms and be deeply integrated with them.Following that, reforms and innovations are ongoing in the contents, forms of communication, and communication platforms.Opportunities always coexist with challenges. Thus, some problems have emerged in the period of the transformation. At present, considering that the overall ratings of children's TV programs are declining, the promising of transformation is far from satisfactory. We should address the problem with targeted measures, seek a solution to the development path, and use the new media properly. The thesis focuses on the program changes and developmental trends of children's TV programs against the new media environment in different periods. The whole paper has been divided into four chapters. The first chapter sorts out the related concepts of children's TV programs involved in this research, briefly describes the history of their development and presents characteristics of China's programs.According to the development process of new media,Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 divide the new media into two stages: one is the period of media blending and the other is the period of smart media blending. Each chapter demonstrates one period.Through empirical research and case analysis, the author discusses the changes and problems of the contents, forms and platforms of each period from the perspective of the new media of children's TV programs.Chapter 4 explores the development of the type of programs under the background of wise media from different aspects. The questionnaire is used to investigate the satisfaction of the audience to the programs. The aim is to confirm during the period of media and intelligent media.Whether the program problem exists and to fully understand the opinions and wishes of the public in order to provide feasibility for the future path of children's TV programs. In the future, children's TV programs will be developed from the level of contents and the integration of science and technology.According to the trends of national science and technology, childrenoriented theory and gatekeeper theory, the corresponding development path is proposed. To sum up,children's TV programs must continue to explore and improve in the new media environment and solve existing problems in a timely manner,so that they can develop steadily in the future and realize their cultural responsibilities,so as to provide support for the cultivation of children in moral, intellectual, physical, mental, and physical skills.
