People's Daily Science Report Research(1978-2018)

China's science cause has made remarkable achievements since the reform and opening up,but the public scientific literacy level is still not high.Active popularization of science can effectively improve citizens' scientific literacy,and provide an inexhaustible driving force for the sustainable development of science.The popular science report of People's Daily,is the epitome of the development course of China's popular science work.It has the characteristics of the re-description,strong credibility.Study of the popular science reports,not only can supplement science development in our country from the perspective of newspaper media research,at the same time can also work for other traditional media and new media to carry out the popular science work to provide reference and enlightenment.In this paper,the author sorted out the development process of popular science of People's Daily from 1978 to 2018.With the method of construction week sampling,1553 popular science reports were selected and analyzed,and the characteristics of popular science reports of People's Daily were summarized,based on analyzing the existing problems,and put forward the development strategy in the future.According to the research findings,with the development of China's popular science work,the popular science report of People's Daily enriched and improved in terms of content and communication ideas.At first,the purpose of popular science was simply disseminating scientific knowledge.Then,it introduced scientific concepts to the public,guided the public to participate in thinking about scientific and social issues,and highlighted the cultural construction of popular science.Based on the development context,the content analysis of popular science reports of People's Daily in different periods shows the following characteristics.First,the quantity affected by national policies.Second,the topics focus on the field of engineering technology.Thirdly,the report angle of reporting has changed from single to multiple.Fourth,the genre dominated by news and supplemented by communication.Fifth,information sources vary.Sixth,the title rarely use the rhetoric way.It can see that the formation of the characteristics of popular science report of People's Daily is the result of the joint action of politics,society and economy in different periods in China.
