As one of the three pillars of university construction(teachers,laboratories and libraries),libraries are obliged to provide high-quality services.With the rapid development of information technology,how to carry out the service work quickly and effectively is an important subject for today's university libraries.Under the new situation,the traditional management mode has seriously hindered the development of university libraries,so the university libraries must think about how to develop from the basic lending service to the deep and innovative service,breaking through the existing resistance to achieve rapid development.University libraries carry out rich and diversified service activities aiming at readers' needs.On the one hand,they can attract more readers to pay attention to the library and then then use its various resources to improve the utilization rate of Library resources.On the other hand,as an important place of cultural construction,they can also add vigorous and high-quality new contents to the cultural construction of universities.Because the library service activities have one-time and unique project attributes,this paper defines an effective project management mode based on the theory and method of project management to discuss the composition and connotation of the whole life cycle project management mode of University Library Service activities,and takes the monthly reading promotion activities of XD College library as a case study to study the specific characteristics and implementation of the project management model of library service activities.Firstly,this paper expounds the concept of project-based management,clarifies the connotation and characteristics of project-based management,and finds out the conformity and superiority of library service and project-based management according to its content.Secondly,this paper elaborates the connotation of the project-based management mode of the whole life cycle of university library service activities.According to the connotation of the whole life cycle theory of the project,this paper establishes a model framework of project management mode for the whole life cycle of university library service activities,and the four stages(project initiation,planning,execution control and ending),21 sub-process groups and the deliverable results required in each stage of the project-based management of university library services are determined.Based on the division of project management knowledge fields issued by the American Project Management Association(PMI),this paper elaborates the knowledge fields of overall management,scope management,human resources management,schedule management,cost management,communication management,risk management and quality management in detail by taking the reading promotion service activities of XD College as specific cases.Using project management knowledge,the library of XD College has formed the whole life cycle of the reading promotion monthly activities of XD College.The performance evaluation system established according to the sixth reading promotion service activities of the library finally shows that project management is completely feasible and effective in library service activities.As the library of XD College used the project-based method in reader service management for the first time,it has some problems and limitations.In view of this,this paper puts forward some suggestions for similar work in the future.This study is of practical significance for the future development of service activities of XD College Library,and provides useful reference for other university libraries in the innovation of service management mode.
