Design And Implementation Of Workflow-based Portal System For Colleges And Universities

Campus portal system's mainly functions are: integrating a lot of scattered and isomerous applications,realizing the seamless access and integration to a variety of application systems through single sign on(SSO).In recent years,universities and colleges usually use Portal which is a traditional portal system.It can get together all the application systems in campus,and it also can show all the affairs of other application systems by using Portlets for users.As time goes by using the campus portal system,we found it can be well used by staff and teachers,but it is difficult to promote among students.We made a research and found different ages of students who can generally accept the social network,such as Renren,Kaixin001,and Moments.In the actual office environment of universities and campus,the concept of paperless office will be gradually used by staff and teachers who work in universities and campus.Although each business departments can handle affairs by using their application system,but campus business application is no longer confined within the department,it usually requires cross-department to complete all together,which need the introduction of the concept of workflow on campus.It can help us to achieve more efficient management and operation through the decomposition of various services and certain rules and procedures to constraint these tasks' implementation and monitor.Aim the two problem,in the application of the implementation,the paper bases on Portal frame,and it uses the architecture of MVC,designs and achieves the workflow-based portal system for colleges and universities.Specially,through transaction workflow modeling and domain modeling,we sort out the processes of four daily office matters which are internal transfer,refresher and training,part-time teachers reporting and registration papers.And we also apply the design of the transaction workflow in the portal system,so that staff can only log in the system to handle the related matters.Campus portal system can support personalized for users through integrating of the campus application systems,integrating the inside information which teachers and students care,integrating the related business processes.Of course,the new platform also increases collaboration services and work area.Specially,we improved the Portal system which is user-centric.It not only taking account of the internal documents and affairs which teachers is interested,but also taking account of the actual needs of students.The new portal system is refactored with taking account of the social elements.The innovation follows:1.The mainly topic is how to build a campus portal system which conforms the characteristics of private colleges.Although the portal system which is in colleges and universities is in the relatively mature,but there is no reasonable case both balanced either in favor of office systems,either in favor of collaboration services.This topic analyses two kinds of portal systems,and find a reasonable solution in order to improve the utilization of the campus portal system.2.Starting from the business of university or college,we organize the school's business processes and reasonably standard their processes.We apply all of them in the construction of portal system.It effectively helps the school's staff and students deal with their affairs,and it also helps the school regulate the management processes.And the system can provide a reference value for the other universities or colleges who want to build their campus portal system.
