The Discourse Change Of "AIDS" Reports In People's Daily(1985-2020)

As a major infectious disease,AIDS has been posing an increasing threat to human beings since it was discovered in 1981.After the discovery of the first AIDS case in China in 1985,People's Daily,as a party newspaper,began to report on the topic of AIDS for 35 years,recording the changing track of AIDS prevention and treatment of the party and the country,and showing the cognitive change of the society and the public on the topic of AIDS.Discourse changes in the news media coverage of AIDS reflect the change of Chinese society's cognition of AIDS as an infectious disease and even the mainstream cognition of the society.Based on the theoretical perspective of critical discourse analysis,this paper summarizes the overall situation of AIDS coverage in People's Daily from three levels of text,discourse practice and social practice,and concludes that AIDS coverage in People's Daily gradually tends to be "positive,scientific and humanistic".At the textual level,it analyzes the micro-discourse turn of "AIDS" report.On the level of discourse practice,the frequency of reporting proposition and the changing trend of the expression emphasis of discourse subject are summarized.In the aspect of social practice,based on the social and historical context,this paper starts with the discourse characteristics of AIDS topics in People's Daily at different stages and analyzes the reasons that promote the change of "AIDS" topics.Analysis it is concluded that the People's Daily reported "AIDS" issue under the influence of social change,by the biased foreign event to focus on domestic issues and reports from the negative information to health knowledge popularization,from division "them" to fight "ai" become "we",hand in hand to show the Chinese news media subjectivity regression,public consciousness awakening and the process of social and historical change.
