| The development of the media industry has been accelerated by the iteration of science and technology.Dividing it into producers and distributors,the media industry has experienced the paradigm transformation and revolution of three new media generations: the traditional media age,the social media age and the algorithmic media age.In the age of algorithmic media,producers are transitioning from content produced by professionals and by people to content produced by people and machines,and distribution is transitioning from subscription and forwarding to personalized information matching.After decades of evolution,algorithms are gradually applied to the field of news dissemination and affect the news distribution.As an algorithm to match the pioneers of news distribution,the aggregated news clients are also getting more and more attention algorithms news giants such as ‘Facebook' and ‘Toutiao' are growing and leading the way,becoming important media information service platforms for audiences to access information.This kind of news client produces and distributes news mainly through machine algorithm,can accurately interpret the user's reading habits and hobbies,and can satisfy the personalized demand.At the same time,the emergence of new technologies will inevitably bring about new problems.With the wide application of algorithmic news,problems such as the lack of gatekeepers exposed in its development have emerged one after another,which has brought considerable challenges to the governance of the network ecological environment It has aroused extensive thinking and discussion in the academic and industrial circles.In this paper,we turn our vision to the algorithm news as the core of the aggregate type of news client,select it as the research object,and take ‘Toutiao' as the research case,using case analysis,in-depth interviews and text analysis research methods.This paper explores the gatekeeper problem in the production of algorithm news,sums up the composition of the gatekeeper,summarizes the mechanism and process of the gatekeeper,and puts forward somesuggestions for improving the existing problems in the production of algorithm news.The full text consists of six parts: the first part is the introduction,with literature review and related concepts of the paper mainly described.The second part briefly introduces the background of the development of algorithmic news production,that is,the change of media environment.The third part mainly discusses the composition of the gatekeeper in the algorithmic news production.The fourth part is the focus of this paper,mainly discusses the check mechanism and the process of the algorithm news production,and carries on the concrete analysis to it.The fifth part points out the problems of the gatekeeping mechanism in the algorithmic news production.In the last part,the author puts forward some suggestions from three levels of individual,organization and society: Firstly,the relevant gatekeepers in the production of algorithmic news should give full play to the group power to assist the content gatekeepers professional gatekeepers should pay attention to the selection of elites,and content creators should improve their journalistic professional qualities.Secondly,organizations should give full play to their platform advantages and set up more professional editors to improve the professionalism of the organization's gatekeeping from two aspects: strengthening the gatekeeping of commentary columns and improving the transparency of the gatekeeping and the authority of elite gatekeepers;on the social level,the government's organizational departments should put in place the perfect social supervision strict platform information service qualifications,blame the individual,at the same time to introduce third-party supervision,error penalty regulations in a clear and clear form for the majority of users and platform management.There's no doubt that the benefits of personalized recommendations far outweigh the costs,so I believe that in the development of algorithmic news,machines are evolving,and so are humans in the course of their development,they will always find a suitable way to deal with the problems that arise.It is worth noting that in the process of algorithmic news production,the values of professional and elite gatekeepers are dominant,and in the process of information production and circulation,all parties should gradually internalize journalistic professionalism into the basic principles of individual communication return to journalistic professionalism rationally. |
