In order to cope with the social environment of information overload,algorithmic recommendation technology based on personalized push comes into being.Nowadays,many information apps adopt the way of information aggregation and rely on algorithmic recommendation technology for content distribution,so as to achieve content push that is more suitable for users' interests and needs.The "personalized" information interface allows users to access the information they want more quickly,but it is suspected that the technology is pushing individuals to limit their horizons by exposing them to such "personalized" information over time.Over time,may exacerbate the "information cocoon".Many people believe this is particularly true of the aggregator news client,of which Toutiao is a typical example.Based on Cass R.Sunstein's concept of "information cocoons" and other relevant theories,this paper takes Toutiao as the main research object to study the characteristics and formation mechanism of the "information cocoons" effect.Firstly,this paper analyzes the personalized recommendation mechanism of Toutiao and summarizes its performance in content recommendation.Today,the application's internal algorithm recommendation technology mainly adopts three methods: one is based on timeliness and news attention,the other is based on collaborative filtering,and the third is based on user portrait.This makes the content recommendation have the following characteristics: the content focuses on timeliness,the headline captures the user's interest and preference accurately,and can track and record the user's behavior to recommend the content.Secondly,through the collation and analysis of the above data,it proves that personalized recommendation technology can indeed promote the generation of cocoon room effect.As for the characteristics of the "information cocoons" effect in the aggregate news client,this paper believes that there are the following points.First,when people are used to the information needs of personal computing,it is not easy to break the "cocoon" formed by similar information.Second,"cocoon room" will affect the user's information reception,narrow their view of the problem;Third,the size of "cocoon room" is actually determined by users themselves to a certain extent.The media literacy of users restricts the size of "information cocoon room".Thirdly,this paper explores the reasons for the formation of "information cocoon house".The formation of "information cocoon house" has many factors.We live in the environment of information overload and fragmentation of reading,which is the background of the formation of "cocoon house".The "selective contact" psychology of users is the main reason.Algorithm recommendation technology becomes the catalyst for its formation.However,if further explored,Toutiao,as the main body of communication,positioned itself as a technological product and failed to assume the responsibilities that mass media should assume at the beginning.However,the dereliction of duty in the transformation of traditional media makes its communication effect gradually fade,making it difficult to compete with new media and assume the responsibility of content review.Finally,this paper summarizes the information cocoons,discusses people's views on this effect,and puts forward suggestions on how to avoid information cocoon house.To break the information cocoon,people need to start from both users themselves and Toutiao products themselves,and make joint efforts to "break the cocoon".On the one hand,users should actively carry out off-track contact to improve their judgment;On the other hand,the platform should further improve the algorithm function,establish the sense of social responsibility,strengthen the output of high-quality content,expand the manual audit team,and do a good job in content "gatekeeper".
