As a global media event, the Olympic Games is a hot spot for media reports and academic research. The development of the Olympic Games is inseparable from the help of the media. In December 1995,the People's Daily was the first to “touch the net”.In 1996,the Atlanta Olympic Games became the first Olympic Games to be reported by online media. The Olympic report has since entered the stage of joint efforts of new and old media, and the media ecology has presented new features. What changes in the composition of the new ecology of the media, and what characteristics? What changes have occurred in the Olympic report of the People's Daily? What are the reasons for the change and what problems exist during the transition? And what is the development path of the paper media Olympic report? These are the questions that this study attempts to answer and solve, and provide some reference for the subsequent reform and upgrading of traditional paper media. This study uses content analysis, text analysis and interview as the main research methods, taking media ecosystem theory as the starting point, combining media fusion theory, cognitive model theory and media management knowledge to report on People's Daily Olympics. The changes have been sorted out,and on this basis, the reasons for the transformation have been explored with the help of the new ecological perspective of the media. The study concludes that the degree of environmental impact is deepened under the extension of the inclusive pattern, and the divergence of multiple boundaries leads to the blurring of the boundaries. The gradual diversification of information flow under the impact of technology is the reason for the transformation of Olympic reports, and profoundly reflects on the shortcomings and development paths. This study consists of an introduction and five chapters. The introduction part summarizes the research on the Olympic report from the perspectives of mediaecology,Olympic report and media ecology at home and abroad, and reviews the concept of "media ecology","Olympic report","media fusion" and "cognitive model theory".It has been accurately defined. The first part explores the composition of the new ecology of the media, including environmental factors, producer factors and consumer factors. The second part is to sort out the development process of the 9th Olympic Games of the People's Daily and divide it into two stages: the preliminary period of the report and the period of stable development. The content analysis method and text analysis method are used to further analyze the report materials. The third part summarizes the changes in the report content, the report form and the discourse paradigm by summarizing the characteristics of the Olympic report in the two stages of the initial period and the stable development period. The fourth part compares the new ecological media with the media ecology, compares and summarizes the components and characteristics of the new ecosystem, and changes the environment from the environment, the audience, the information flow and the producer itself.Reason for inquiry. The fifth part is the analysis of the problems in the transformation and the way to solve the problem. As a new round of battle between media organizations, the Olympic Games can use the limited resources to create unlimited development possibilities. How to maintain the role of moral positions as a "social public device" has become a problem facing the media. This study clarified the characteristics of the new media of the media in the People's Daily, and rationalized the transformation of the paper media Olympic report headed by the People's Daily, and then pointed out the direction for the traditional media to shine on the Olympic stage.
