Forty Years Of Two Generations Of Xilu Town

Xilu Town is known as the "hometown of architecture".The town has nearly one-fifth of the population engaged in construction industry.They are not only the young and middle-aged people of Xilu Town,but also an important economy source of a family.This article adopts the form of non-fiction writing and takes time as the narrative line.Houses and construction sites are the concrete images which connect two generations.The elder generation,including the author's father and uncle,gained the opportunity to develop in construction industry in the period of the reform and opening-up,and accumulated a great deal of resources.The younger generation is easier to find a job in the construction industry with the help of their elder generation'accumulation and their own skills.Thus the network of relatives,fellow villagers,friends and classmates was built.Apart from continuing the path of development of elder generation,some young people are also explore the development path out of construction industry.The author and a cousin of the author are appear as variables.The author tries to get rid of the development predicament through receive higher education,while the cousin through start up his business.Two kinds of efforts face a different situation.The unique development model of Xilu Town has not changed the traditional social relations and value system,on the contrary,it superimposed with the traditional clan society and affecting many families in Xilu Town at the same time.In order to reflect the change and unchanged things of Xilu Town which under the tide of reform and opening-up,this article attempts to show the living conditions of the two generations of Xilu Town and the efforts of the younger generation made to find a breakthrough.The article is followed by the description of the work which includes the conception of the work and the specific process of the interview.At the same time,it also shows the harvest and sentiment of author during the whole process of writing this article.
