Discourse Analysis Of News Commentary Based On Corpus

As an important part of news discourse,news commentary plays an important role in maintaining the mainstream value system and guiding public opinion.The China News Award is the highest annual award for news works in China Since 1990,it has been held for 28 sessions and produced a large number of news commentary works with distinct views,incisive expositions and standardized writing.Based on 141 Chinese newspaper reviews of the China News Award from 2008 to 2018,which is 260000 words,and with the help of Fairclough's Three-Dimensional Discourse Analysis Model and Halliday's systemic functional linguistics,this paper adopts a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches to analyse these awarded newspaper reviews.This study attempts to solve the following questions:What is the general situation of China News Award award-winning newspaper review?What are the discourse characteristics and function of the award-winning newspaper reviews?How does the award-winning newspaper review construct social identity,knowledge and belief system and public opinion?This paper is divided into five parts.Chapter one elaborates Fairclough's three-dimensional discourse analysis model and Halliday's systemic functional linguistics theory,and establishes the framework of this study.Chapter two is a general review of the newspaper reviews of the "China News Award" from 2008 to 2018,including number,topic,attitude orientation,award-winning media,etc.Chapter three is text analysis of three-dimensional discourse analysis.This chapter focuses on vocabulary,mood,style and rhetoric,headlines,to summarize the discourse characteristics of news commentary.Chapter four is the discourse practice analysis.This chapter analyses the intertextuality of the award-winning newspaper comments.In the "clear intertextuality",it makes a statistical analysis of the number and source of direct and indirect quotations,illustrates the use of discourse presupposition and metadiscourse with examples,and analyses different style of the award-winning newspaper comments in the "intertextuality".Chapter five is the analysis of social practice.On the basis of the above research,this chapter analyses the constructive role of news commentary,including the construction of social identity,knowledge and belief system,and public opinion.This study adopts corpus-assisted discourse analysis,which involves linguistics,sociology,communication and other disciplines.Through computer-assisted and manual-assisted reading,the ideology behind news commentary discourse is excavated.This study is based on the three-dimensional discourse analysis framework of Fairclough,which provides a new perspective for the study of news commentary.
