The TV show Chinese Poetry Competition,which is a culture related TV program run by the CCTV,had arouse heated discussions about the inherit of Chinese poetry and Chinese culture in social network platforms like Weibo,We-chat and Zhihu after it had been put on the screen.Under the background of culture globalization,the call of “entertainment speaks for all” in Chinese media business,the lake of creativity among Chinese main-stream TV shows and the lack of competitiveness of TV medias in the new media generation,this show had been a success in both audience rating and social effect.The show contributed to the spreading of Chinese poetry and Chinese culture.Researched on the culture spreading activities of this show has a great importance in understanding the popular factors in culture TV shows and the creativity of culture TV shows in China.This thesis applied the research methods of literature review,textual analysis and case study to study the process,features and functions of how the Chinese Poetry Competition spread Chinese culture and Chinese poetry.The thesis also discussed the development and further innovation of this show.The thesis can be divided into five parts.Part one is an introduction of the show Chinese Poetry Competition and relative researches of culture transmission.Part two is an analysis of the show in three aspects: program form,program structure and program package.The third part illustrate the culture transmission activities of the show.Past four is an analysis of the culture transmission function of the Chinese Poetry Competition.The final part is a reflection of the show under the background of globalization and the falling of traditional culture.The writer also proposed several solid suggestions for the show in terms of the training of expertise,the making of headline makers,the building of culture atmosphere,the construction of media platform and feedbacks.
